| zx10r sold out from rrw-
Kawasaki has sold out of the ZX-10R at the wholesale level and no more 2004 models are scheduled for production or delivery to dealers.there are examples of the ZX-10R still on various dealer floors around the country, and that Kawasaki is encouraging dealers to use the company's unsold bike locater service to find machines for their customers. |

If Kwaka make boat anchors, Honda make mutiple container ship in one anchors. Oh yeah, with shitty paint and ****ed suspension |

See what engine lasts longer
The reason it is sold out is because it makes 3 more HP than the next competitor, and the phucktards want to be able to brag that their bike is kingshit. Nevermind that it will chunk you, or the fact that it is hellaunstable at speed, as long as it makes the most HP right?

So a technical question
Which is heavier (1) a 20 gram lead wheel weight or (2) a 20 gram carbon fibre wheel weight |

| Re: zx10r sold out My freind bought a ZX10R last month. He has 1000 miles on it so far. He also has been to the shop to get things fixed three times in the last month as well. He just informed me that it is going back to the shop tomorrow to get the speedo fixed. Also, some hoses keep dissconnecting by themselves. Now, I am no fan of Kawasaki. It just seems that the quality of product that Kaw puts into their machine is suspect. He traded in his ZX9 for this new bike. His ZX9 seemed to have something go wrong all the time. I do not think it is his fault. He takes care of his bikes. I wish his bikes could take better care of him.
I say you can't go wrong with Honda quality. |

I say you can't go wrong with Honda quality. | Yeah, I guess it just depends. I mean I had three ZX6Rs over the years and never had single problem with it at all! This was from the early '96 ZX6R up until the '00 ZX6R. Having said that, I wouldn't be buying ANY brand new model in it's first year. You're bound to have fettling problems.
I know Honda traditionally makes a solid dependable bike, and this has been proven but they aren't without their faults. Horses for corses I guess. Anyhoo, I'll wait n see what happens next year. |

| Re: zx10r sold out I met a guy on a brand new zx-10r the other day. He said he loves it because it's a vicious beast, which to me is understandable. What's wrong with a bike with some personality? I felt the same way when I rode a buddy's zx-11r. It's just a interesting experience.
I was much happier going back to my 929, though. It feels weightless compared to the zx-11. |

| Re: zx10r sold out Whether you care for the new ZX10R or Kawasaki's in general, you have to hand it to them. They've come from the basement of the top 4 manufactures to (I'm assuming) top honors in some publications and sales. I think it's great that Kawasaki stepped to the plate and hit a homerun (for now anyways). |

I would join others in waiting for bugs to be ironed out, if ever, but then rework the suspension, throw on a steering damper and blast off. |

| Re: zx10r sold out I'd trade my 954 for a ZX10 in a heartbeat. The 954 is my first Honda in 20 years and I am disappointed. None of my Kawis ever failed me. Z1, KZ1000, ZX6 and a ZX9R. I posted a thread about it before. Has anyone else seen their camshafts in their 954s or is mine the only one that lost the hard surface on the cam lobes before the first valve service?
It does handle way better than my last tank of a Kawasaki.

| Re: zx10r sold out I was not saying that Kaw's are bad. I think the zx10 looks awsome. I can't wait until my freind lets me ride it. It just seems that I hear more than several stories about the fit & finish of kaw's. I am sure all of the major manufacturers have problems. Maybe since it is a first generation thing, they have not ironed out all of the bugs. |

I figure like most bikes, the stock suspension needs to be modded to make the bike handle properly and will mostly likely get some good stability out of it as well. Put on a steering damper (the rest come with one anyway!) and I'd say it'l be a real weapon. Much more stable, easier to ride but still ludicrously quick. |

I have a Scotts stainless steel filter so it was visible early on. I use Golden Spectro never redline it and never had any mechanical troubles. The valves were all in spec too. I love the bike but I hate to see stuff like that when I open it up. If I decide to keep it past the next valve service I'll probably have the cams welded up and reground. I do not imply that this is a problem with all 954s infact I have only talked to one other with this problem. But I know a lot of people don't do their own service and may never actually see this part of their bike. |

| Re: zx10r sold out Well... I guess it is time to come out of the closet.
After my RC was stolen about 6 weeks ago I was offered a test ride on a 10r and was very impressed.
Then, when we started talking price the Kawi was going to be a good $1,500 less than the 1000RR and $2,500 less than a new RC.
Up here in Canada Kawasaki was giving a $900 rebate so that, with the magazine numbers, has them almost sold out up here also.
I am now into my 3rd week as a black ZX10r owner and can not say that I have any complaints, but I still do miss that V2 thing.
It handles great, maybe a little light in the front but I installed an Ohlins damper and now feels near perfect.
The power has to be experience to really beleave (unbeleavable)!
The Sato slip-on that I also just installed now gives it a little extra character in the sound department.
Looks wise, I like it and in the all black that I have, I love it.
Being a die hard Honda guy (dead man walking) I will say that Honda still has the upper hand as far as fit and finish goes, but not by as much as in the past.
As far as reliabilaty goes, only time will tell. |

Go team Green! I've still gotta wait till next year for funds though, I only hope they continue with the beautifull black colour scheme. I'll be pissed if I miss out on a good looking bike. Seems Kwaka come out with good colours the first year, then **** it up for the 2nd generation colours. Arhgh! |

I'm not going to be the fastest at the track anyway, so people may as well have something pretty to look at as a get overtaken by everyone else. And when it breaks down, well, I can stick it in my lounge room and call it art

I do agree with the statement that bikes need character....feeling built into the thing that stirs emotion!!! All I read about the 1000RR is how refined...even too refined the thing is! I would get bored...and then the dude on the 10R would blow my doors off on the back wheel!!!
My 600RR is mostly seeing track duty...but after the gearing change is plenty of bike for the street. |
