2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R thoughts

I know we have discussed this a bit before but just some more thoughts.

I was looking at some more photos of the ZX-10R and it is growing on me... I like the overall look and the tail pipes I think look pretty good. Reminds me of the 916. The only thing I'm not sure of is the headlights... but from some more picture angles I have seen they are growing on me. Anyone seen one of these in the stores yet? I wonder if they look even better or worse in person.

I'm thinking about what my next bike will be in the next year or so and this one is definately on the list.

Although that Daytona is looking pretty sweet... except for the colors they are offering it in. Every bike should be available in black... plain old gloss black. This bike may be harder to come by however....

Yeah, if I was going to buy a Kawi, it'd definately be lime green.

Re: 2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R thoughts

I think the wide spacing of the headlights and pipes make it look ponderous and heavy, even though it probably isn't. ALso, the heat shields are too big and ugly, and make the tail section look super-thick.... thin is "in". The integrated turn signals look good. Will NA get the slick front flushmounts or will they bolt the big construction zone lights on there?

Not a big fan of the redesign, I still think the 675 is the best looking new bike!! I will be going to the bike show tomorrow and will have a better look then.

I like it, but the jury is out on the headlights. More importantly, I can't wait to see the Hayden bros in Superbike on it next year!!!!

Re: 2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R thoughts

From what I have seen so far, I like the looks of the R1 the best but I wish they had done more than slap some Ohlins on a really expensive version and made a few more adjustments to the regular bike, like a slipper clutch for example.

I wonder what you can do with some aftermarket pipes on the ZX-10 as well... should be able to get rid of the heat shields and show them off.

I will be interested to see what the riding impressions will be. I have a feeling it will be a very powerfull beast.

The 06 R1 is already in at my local stealer. Next to the 05 ZX's, it definately looks better.

Take some pictures and let us know what your impressions are! I'd like to see some more photos of the 675. I think that will be a hard bike to come by... They have the sign up on their website.

Yep, that was what I was getting at... The more I see it the more I like it. It certainly looks better than what they did to the poor CBR...

I dunno... I think they went in the right direction with the 06 CBR.... the big side panels with the straight level cut made it look big.

I have really wanted to like the CBR1000RR... I really liked my 954 and would like to get another Honda, but they just don't make anything I like...

The only thing I think is uglier is the Suzuki GSXR1000...

Re: 2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R thoughts

I've always found the 1000RR pretty sexy... not counting the 04s with the rubbermaid lowers though...

Low, pointed nose, little angular twin headlights, slim tapered tail with flared-out (fake)scoops... the design really just works for me. But of course styling is subjective.

And that's my favorite looking 1000.

Man, designers and managers must go nuts trying to figure out what design to use on their bikes.
