| Lookin @ a ZZR600 Okay not a Zx-6r, but a 2006 ZZR600! The insurance company totalled my '95 VFR... Sad day, I loved that bike, but now its time to look for a new baby... I was @ the local stealer the other day, and they brought up the ZZR. I was originally wanting a CBR600, but the used ones were just over the amount that the insurance co is going to give me, and the new ones are about $1000 more than the ZZR, and the bikes seem pretty comparable... the CBR just seems a few pounds lighter...
Whacha think ? I know this place is a little biased, but figured I'd see! |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZX-6r personally i'm very Honda biased and I've been riding nothing but since i was about 8 years old, so I'd go with the CBR... But beyond that I'd probably take the CBR anyway because I think those ZZR's just look goofy as hell |

As long as the financials work out, it should be a go!! |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 There nice bikes, but They have a problem of beating up there valve seats and constantly going out of adjustment. I know someone that put 100k miles on a 2000 ZX6R (same engine) and it got to a point where there wasn't a shim small enough anymore to get it back into spec. Plus the Hondas are fuel injected which I think is a plus. Not that the ZZR is a bad bike. The Honda will be less work to keep going over a few years and several thousand miles. |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 I found valve / shim problems with a ZXR. My sister had some compression probs with her ZZR also. Ended up needing a fair bit of work. Loved my Kawasaki but the bike cost me a shitload replacing all the inlet valves. Every single one of em. The ZZR's are a nice bike, but do they have all the adjustments on the suspension? Hate to find out after you buy it that you cant set it up just like you want. Keep looking around and find yourself a Honda if you can wait it out.
Cheers,
Dave |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 I liked the last model ZZR better than this one, with the one seat (not the current stepped seat), and now that you bring up the valve issues (with the ZX engine), I like it even less.
Won't recommend them anymore... |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 Well picked it up today! Rides sweet as hell! Really smooth, goin through the breakin period so I haven't really gotten it above 4k rpms yet, but can tell it'll have a nice kick once I can actually push it! Turned out that my dad got a coupon in the mail yesterday for $400 in free accessories if you buy a kawi that was more than 7 grand, so that worked out pretty sweet. Picked up a mesh jacket (yes I know there are some folks against it, but in the heat, the thing feels a hella lot better than my winter jacket), some frame sliders, a tail bag, and a tank protector.
I heard what you guys said about the maintence, but its what really fit in my budget, the insurance was not ANYWHERE near as expensive as a CBR or any other bike that is in that class. Some insurance companies don't consider it a true sport bike, and insurance for me on a real sportbike is skyhigh b/c I'm 21.
Either way, I love the bike and I can't wait to take it on some real rides! |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 Congrats man!
I love that bike... like I said earlier, it was my first. I only replaced it because I wanted a liter bike. It was very comfy, plenty of power and I hope you enjoy it!
Oh, and... |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 The jacket is a Joe Rocket.
How strict is the break in? This is my first new bike and I've heard alot of things. The manual says stay under 4k rpm for the first 500 miles 6k rpm for the next 500. I've had people tell me thats not critical as long as you just vary the RPM? Any suggestions?
Here's a pic, I haven't been able to shoot any of mine, but its stock, so thats exactly how it looks |

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 There's an interesting article in this months Motorcyclist- (prob June '06 issue, I don't have it with me), the one on naked bikes with the FZ1 on the cover and ZRX-1200 hopup in the back.
Anyway, there is a very interesting article on the very thing you ask - breaking in a new bike. Check it out. It was exactly how I broke in my 954, and mine is Good To Go!

| Re: Lookin @ a ZZR600 That was my first bike after having it for 3 months the transmission started to pop from third to second gear by it self, dealership called it abuse but could not show me any. 2 months later the rod broke, after getting a new motor it lasted 9000 miles then at 62 mph in 6th gear a valve broke and fried the new motor kawasaki again wouldn't waranty it. the rear shock can't support the spring so it makes for a crappy ride, the cabs are poorly put together oh yeah its an '06 that is carbarated come on kawasucki keep up with the times. I recently bought a cbr 1000 rr and the difference is incredible both in handling and reliability. I highly recommend you buy a huffy before this bike |
