The ZX-14 looks massive! Does if feel big and bulky or more balanced and nimble than would appear?

Nice rides. Have you logged many miles on the 14? Thoughts on the bike?

I have about 3200 miles on it now. The zx feels more stable than ponderous or slow to react. I really like it for a commuter. It handles fine in corners, but the OEM Bridgestone tires need to go. I want Michelin Pilots as soon as I can get them. The bike's not as wheelie prone as the 929 of course. It accelerates much harder before it wheelies. You can spin the tire too. The 929 never spins without using the front brake.
It's the dream bike I always wanted Kaw to make. I think I'll sell the 929. I still love it, but 99% of the time, I'd rather ride the -14

Thanks for the report. I've been reading some great things about that bike - anxious to see Suzuki's answer next year.
I can see abtechs TA comparo - but the ZX reminds me more of the sentinels off The Matrix.

OK I've seen the side by side zx/sentinel pics before. I remember a cycle mag comparing the busa front view to a pregnant manatee. It's like we can't have a hyper-bike without a bold fashion statement (I guess the designers call it distinctive styling). To me, the ZX looks a lot better in real life, than it does in pics. Then again, it doesn't matter that much to me. Cosmetics were low on my list of qualifiers when it came to buying a bike.

Yup...it looks weird to me when sitting next to that 929, but someone around here has one and it's rather nice looking in person. |

That thing looks like a BUS next to the 929. What a hog. Thank God it's fast on the street - because in the curves....it's a PIG. Hehehe....

Well I ran them both yesterday, at a local drag strip. At first I was more familiar with the 929, because I had raced it there before. After 3 runs on it, I tried the 14. It's incredible. It feels more controlable, and my 60' times were pretty good considering it was my first time out. My reaction times were pretty slow, and the engine bogged on the start a few times because I dumped too much clutch. I can't wait to go again!!

Awsome! I'm planning on getting mine down to the track once before winter sets in - and then I'm doing some mods over winter to hopefully get me into the mid 9's. Can't wait.
Also - I've heard that 14 is even more restricted from the factory than my busa is. I think Brocks already has a plug in fix for it - should make that thing even more insane.

There is a set of secondary butterfly throttle valves that are easily removed. That removes the restriction seen below 4k rpm, but they say it can cause it to run a little lean at very low rpm on the street unless you get it remapped. I won't do that until I'm ready for an exhaust.
Johnnycrash, does the Busa come with a steering damper. That's something else I need to buy...just in case.

I've heard people talk of removing the "flies" on a new 14 so that must be what they meant - you were a step ahead of me. From what I understand the performance with a full exhaust and the restrictor removed is incredible.
Yes the busa comes with a piston type damper. I'm pretty sure all GSXR's do as well.
