| zx-10? What do you think of the 04-05 ZX-10's? Anyone own one? I came across one down the road from me, 04 it has 4700 miles and there asking $5900 for it. And I've been pondering a new addition the the garage. I here there a force to reckon with. i will be picking up something very soon, CBR1000, RC51. I am in the process of aquiring a 05 600RR from a friend that wadded it up, so I will have that and the 54 as the primary track weapons. And since the 54 is all track ready I need something for the street. What are your thoughts? |

| Re: zx-10? I have heard some wonderful things about them. Heard they handle well and are very quick. I have never had the opportunity to ride one, but a few "acquaintances" have said they are very outstanding rides and that they are fairly comfortable for longer rides as well. Wish I could tell you more, but that's all I know. |

The generator oil gallery was not drilled large enough to oil the bushings properly, but in 05' the fixed the issue. But will not say why they changed it.
Parts alone to repair, new $1,700 |

| Re: zx-10? The ZX10 is another bike i oogle all over. I've heard nothing but good about the 04-06 models. One guy was running Metzeler M3's on his at the track and said he didn't like those tires... but that's not a bike issue... it's a power issue.. lots of it. I've also heard from a 2006 10R owner that it's a comfy enough bike for longer rides.
Today i was reading that Kawi warranties are not good though, because Kawi doesn't like to do warranty repair work and turns people down all the time. |

| Re: zx-10? I have an 04 zx10r and by far, it has to be the best motorcycle I've ever owned. It is light, handles real good, and very quick. You've to make sure you give it respect because it does not suffer fools with hammy fists. So far, no problems. My bike has not suffered any teething problems being an introductory model. Quote:

| Re: zx-10? I read in one of the bike mags that the 04's came out of the factory with the motors pushed to the limits in stock form. Kawasaki was quoted as saying that they were "squeezing" as much power as they could out of the motors. The Honda guys were predicting that Kawi would have reliability problems in race situations...sure 'nough; they did. |

| Re: zx-10? Add one more big thumbs-up for the 10 from another poster that actually owns one. Mine is an 07 with a Muzzy GP full system and PCIII with a standard map. (Not dyno-tuned yet.)
My favorite off-bike passtime is going to dyno-shootouts. CBRRs, R1s, 1K Gixxers, 1098s and even a stock MV R312 (my girlfriend's) are all put to shame. But the peak numbers are not what matters when you're on the bike. The real Kawi advantage is the fat power curve. Midrange torque/hp is uhhhhhhmazing. |

| Re: zx-10? Good friend of mine had an 06-07 (cant remember which) and I took it for a spin. He had an exhaust on it but Im not sure about any programming etc. It felt BIG and not as small or nimble (flickable) as my 929 but it did ride nice and the power was more then I could ever see needing. I was easily accelerating past some cars and easy as pie the front end just starts lifting up like lit was floating away. I backed off a tad and it came back down then accelerated again and sure enough up it goes again. Wacking the gas and pulling the front up is one thing but to be able to just smoothly twist the throttle and lift the front was impressive. Had a TL do that years back which made me a fan of V twin torque. The new ones are so ugly I just can't look at one for very long which is sad because otherwise it's an amazing bike. |

| Re: zx-10? I own an '04 zx10r and the only fault I can throw at it is vibration, especially compared to my CBR400. The 10 is light, narrow and very chuckable. It is ridiculously fast but can be ridden at the pace of a snail in heavy traffic in extremely hot weather conditions without complaining. Always starts at the push of the button as well. I love the thing! |
