| Re: BIG Z AND I LOVE IT really like the way it looks and performs It's just not a standard tesco's or other supermarket bike Max doesn't want to sell, and he's right for he will regret doing it It's got 110 bhp on the rearwheel and 109 NM at 3500 revs. It stuffed a couple of GSX-R's at Drachten last year with 10.914@197 km/h on the 400 meter strip. http://www.nitromax.nl/Zdyno.jpg Well, you can hardly talk about a torquecurve can you ??? Like I said: TORQUE !!! From 3500 revs up to 7000 !!! Note: this is a calibrated Dynomachine, not a customerfriendly 10 - 15 % uprated one. It's Gert - Jan Laseur's from Almere who won the 1999 Super Twin dragraces on his Hardley Davidson. |

I really don't know how to respond to this post. I bought new a 1976 Z1, which was the biggest, baddest thing on the planet at the time. The suspension and frame sucked. After one year of ownership, I had to have major engine work done. The frame was so flexible that spirited riding was unpredictable enough that I did not have confidence even with a damper. Don't misunderstand, I loved that bike with all 88 horsepower from the factory. Yes, I know your motor has had work. However, I cannot understand how anyone can call this bike a 'Fireblade killer' by any standard today.
I traded my Z1 in 1983 for an Interceptor which proved itself to be of a magnitude advanced. However as good as my Interceptor was, every Fireblade I have ridden was far superior, and I am a diehard V4 lover.
Unless your post was trolling for fish... then I possibly would understand, and you just caught a 194 pounder. |

| Re: BIG Z For a bike that's old as hell that is pretty cool.
But if I had a 1200cc motor with a lot of work in to it and ended up with 110 hp at the wheel and a 10.9 second 1/4 mile I wouldn't be bragging on the internet, I'd be assaulting my mechanic.
You'd get the same performance from a ZRX1200 with a pipe. I am guessing the GSXR's you were "stuffing" at the track were also from the late 70's early 80's? You are aware that it's 2006 now and bikes have evolved, just a little...
The last GSXR 1000's I saw at a 1/4 mile track were running 10.1's. |
