Not content with sitting on their laurels after the launch of the 2006 ZX-14, the engineers at Kawasaki have fine tuned the engine and exhaust system of the ZX-14 to comply with newer the tougher EuroIII emissions and noise regulations, as well as making changes to the chassis and bodywork.

By reducing the internal mechanical engine noise, adding a third honeycomb catalyser to the collector, increasing the size of the cylinder heads secondary air ports, and making adjustments to the fuel injection system Kawasaki’s engineers have produced a bike with an improved engine, lower emissions and increased power across the range. The low end torque is greater, the bike has a smoother and stronger mid-range and the peak power is increased.

In addition to this the engineers also looked at the design of the chassis and by switching to die casting instead of gravity for the aluminium sections, they were able to reduce weight on their already compact and slim monocoque frame.

With its relaxed riding position, narrow engine and frame, low slim fronted seat riders may be forgiven for thinking they are on a sports tourer.. One twist of the throttle is all it takes to convince you otherwise..
