How do you keep investments organized for taxes?

I am about to start investing and playing around with the market as I have taken several classes about investing using simulators/ trackers and am 2 years into a bachelors degree in accounting. I hate taxes and am more into managerial accounting so don't bash me too hard.. lol
I am thinking about using Scottrade since they have a decent reputation and also $7 commission isn't too steep.

Anyway how do you organize your total gains and losses to help prepare for taxes at the end of the year? I feel like a a spreadsheet could get pretty daunting with a large number of trades.

Any ideas or advise? Btw I am obviously still in school and will only be playing with a few hundred dollars as of now.

There are absolutely NO shortcuts I ever read about, you have the tedious task of journaling all your trades, that's why people use investment companies and CPAs. Here ya go. Trading Journal Spreadsheet
