| Re: Gold Sweet I'm going to have to ask my pops to take me metal detecting. He brings back a couple oz's of nuggets everytime he goes. My grandfather use to go with him, but he passed away a couple years ago so he hasn't gone since(probably to many memories to handle). But if it goes to a $1k an oz. I bet he would start going again. |

| Re: Gold I know someone that does the old method of finding gold. Going to the stream and and finding it using the traditional method the 49's used. He uses it as a hobby as you spend a lot of time and work to find the small amount of gold.
He can spend an entire weekend and only get a few small pieces. |

| Re: Gold Yeah my dad and grandpa use to pan for gold and then got into dredging and then metal detecting. My grandpa actually has a patent on a puffer box he designed. Dredging and the metal detectors produce a lot of nuggets. While panning/puffer boxing you get more of the dust and flakes with a few small nuggets if your lucky. I think the largest nugget my dad has found with the detector is almost 2 oz. My pops belong to a miners association that has claims all over the U.S. . Pops and grandpa did most of thier metal detecting in Arizona and the dredging up in northern Cali. |

| Re: Gold Interesting charts on that site - reminds me of the stock market prior to our current little blip....Can one blow bubbles in gold i wonder?
All this talk of finding gold in the hills...As an English man I now have a sudden urge to leave my family and sail across the Atlantic in order to steer a wagon across the great plains and into the hills of California so I can spend the rest of my life blowing my gold finds on the local prostitutes just like my forefathers before me....hmmm I wonder how much i would cost to ship the blade over to NY....bikes, gold and brothels...sounds kinda fun! |
