Just curious but what are "restriction papers"?

If you have not got a bike license in Ireland for more than 2 years you are not allowed drive a bike of over 35bhp.
This means the only way to insure a bike of this size is to produce the restriction "papers" which state that the bike has a restriction kit reducing power to 35bhp.
Very handy to have if you have not got the full 2 year license

More to the point though, who on earth would accept such a thing :-)

Those of us in the UK who took the 125 test for a start... I'm limited to a bike which doesn't produce more than 33bhp for 2 years... only 18 months to go before restriction on licence is finished

So what happens if you have an accident and it's found that the bike is still putting out 150hp? Surely your insurance money will have been wasted?
I've known about the hp limits for new riders (we have similar here) but I hadn't heard of being able to ride litre-class sportsbikes under the scheme - how strange :-)

On carb model bikes its basically big washers that restrict the flow of fuel/air etc.

On a 954, god knows. But 33BHP on a fireblade is dangerous IMO...

here you can ride ANY bike under the scheme as long as it is restricted to 33bhp, and is a model which can be restricted as there are a few which cant.. and there are various ways it can be reduced.. (digs out paperwork)

Inlet manifold restriction - for bikes like mine with carbs
Exhaust restriction
Main jet change - for 2 strokes
Carb restrictions
Throttle restrictions - for FI systems
