Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

i wear the Shoei on the street and the Arai on the track. The arai shield system sucks IMO, Proabably me not doing it right but Shoei is way easier.

Having the same issue with my X-11, even with all the vents closed I still get quite a bit of air!! I've come to the realization that I don't need this much venting here in the north.

Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

The Arai fits my head better. My last Shoei left me with a terrible hot spot on my forehead after 30 mins. I've gotten use to the arai sheild change system and can do it faster than I could do the Shoei.

Interesting comment HG2 about X-11 fitting Arai heads. I might have to try one on and see how it fits. The fit is the only reason I left Shoei.

Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

Shoei for the CBR, HJC for the ATV, and a NZI carbon fiber for the trials bike. I like the release system for Shoei, the old system on my HJC was a POS, I would use a quarter to change the shield. I hate taking those damn plastic screws out. My even older Bieffe had the same garbage.

I had a hotspot on my forehead with my first Shoei also, but I found that I was just wearing the wrong size. Went from a M to a L and all has been well since.

Interesting. I've always worn Mediums. It seemed to fit otherwise. Maybe that was the problem.

Perhaps this is the reason some of you have the "forehead" problem with Shoei...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

hmmm. does it go into your eyes? do you wear glasses? Other than it going into my eyes I like the air coming in. But all the venting does make the helmet a bit loud. I just started to wear ear plugs on long rides though so its not much of a problem.

The Suomy feels almost like velvet. Its definetly the softest lining I've ever felt.

As far as those hot spots on the forehead, do you guys just mean your forehead gets hot in general or is it a specific spot on your forehead? The only thing my old HJC had over the Suomy is the forehead vent, I still miss that on really hot days but otherwise the rest of my head is so much cooler and it need to be with as much hair as I have.

Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

I recently bought a Scorpion EXO400 for $199 with a smoked screen, and it is very nice. No fogging whatsoever, way more comfortable than my HJC, and much quieter. Great bang for the buck helmet!

Don't the 400's go for around $129, and the 700's around $199?

Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

Well, it was $139 for the 400, then $36 for the smoke face shield, and a few bucks for shipping. I think it actually ended up being $190 or something like that.

Re: What brand helmet do you wear?

Im not a fan of my Shark RSR. Very noisy, and my head seems to buffet much more than other helmets that ive owned. And it doesnt fit my head well at all, pushes against my forehead....oh, and water leaks down the inside of the visor when you open it in the rain. But I won it so im not really complaining, rather pointing out my dislikes bout it. Pluses are its very, very light, and looks pretty sweet.

And don't just take the price you see on the web as the final price either. Do call them to see if they have any specials that are too good to list on the web. I saved well over $100 on my X11 by calling them on the phone compared to their web price.
