| New Posts Now that the forum software stores markers in the database for all posts that you have read, the "New Posts" menu option should actually be useful. This means that the site will always know exactly which posts you have already read, instead of the old way of relying on the date/time of your last login. That was never accurate because you may not have finished reading all the new posts on your last login, and they would be lost if you we relying on "New Posts" to show you what you haven't read. (Note: These markers automatically reset after 30 days; so any posts that you don't read will automatically be marked as read when they reach 30 days old.)
You may have to reset your markers to get a clean start. Once you've finished reading for this visit, go to "Quick Links->Mark Forums Read". That will reset all your markers, marking everything on the site as "Read".
Then, from now on, if you use the "New Posts" option on the menu it will only show you threads that have posts that you haven't read. And, in case you didn't know, if you click the "Down Arrow" icon in front of a thread title, it will jump you right to where the new posts begin in that thread. (You can still use the "Today's Posts" link if you want to see all posts from the last day, whether new or not.) |

| Re: New Posts The " The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts." line is a nice touch.
Looks like we have a WYSIWYG editor as well. |

| Re: New Posts If you want to see all posts from the last day, you can use Today's Posts. (see fine print in first message) "Active Topics" was just a name that was carried over from the old FuseTalk days. All it did was show all threads that had been updated in the last 24 hours.
The lower navigation menu at the top has been returned back to "stock", to keep the locations of the links more consistent for those that are familar with vBulletin sites. |

| Re: New Posts New Posts will always show you any posts you haven't read, up to 30 days back. It's not limited to just 1 day.
You can add the number of days onto the Today's Posts link and make your own shortcut if you like. (Example Below) But it puts a bit of a strain on the server if a lot of people are pulling up all posts from the last X days, which is why those options were removed from the menu. Code: http://www.fireblades.org/forums/search.php?do=getdaily&days=X |

| Re: New Posts Seems each time I am about to vote on the Poll or make a comment the Thread is closed. After all I would be a strange old sod to most here for I am 78 yrs of age though be 79 yrs of age in a few weeks.
Also been riding steadily since '46 which includes 42 yrs of basically most forms of dirt comp.
Had to give up dirt comp a few yrs back due to broken hip & other injuries, so shifted to street use only, but in my case riding the Cdn Rocky Mountains like I use to in the past & basically each time I wheeled out a street iron.
So in fact I spend 95% of my time up in the Cdn Rocky Mountains & only times in town or city streets is when getting THROUGH them or out of them to the proper hwys up into the mountains.
Also for ages, before sportbikes were even dreamed of, like back in '48 I started modifying normal Brit street irons into road racing form or else doing the same to other Brit irons for dirt comp.
In a way I was one of the original Cdns that was chruning up what the Brits called a Cafe Racer while others were trying to make a freaked out street bike with stretched out forks, small fuel tank & such.
Lastly my profile is rather outdated for I had probably the first of the Honda 929 bikes in '00 while the 954 of '03 was still in the crate when I purchased it in August of '04 RATHER then the fatter, heavier & such CBR1000 of that year.
