| FireBlades.org goes Wireless! Ok, I've set up wireless access to the site. We are one of the first (if not THE first) motorcycle site with this.
This is not meant to be a replacement for browsing the site on a computer, but will give you access to search, read & post, send & receive PMs, and a few other things.
It'll be handy for those times you aren't near a PC and need to look up something, or check your PMs, etc.
You can access the site on your wireless device by browsing to wap.fireblades.org. I've also registered fb0.org as a shortcut way of reaching the wireless site. (If you go to either of those links from your PC, they will just redirect to the main site.) EDIT: Added screenshots from my Motorola RAZR.
Some troubleshooting information: Quote:
(Nokia Series 60 Devices)
The WAP browser that comes equipped with the above device(s) cannot display our wireless forum in WAP 2.0 mode as it was meant to be displayed. If you plan to access the forum in WAP 2.0 mode, select the "Series60" WiStyle (theme) via My Prefs as it circumvents most of the WCSS issues that are present in Series 60 devices.
(Sony Ericsson - NON Pxxx series Devices)
With the exception of the SE Pxxx series of WAP devices, the browsers that comes equipped with the above device(s) cannot display our wireless forum in WAP 2.0 mode as it was meant to be displayed. If you plan to access the forum in WAP 2.0 mode, select the "Series60" WiStyle (theme) via My Prefs as it circumvents most of the WCSS issues that are present in s and most SE WAP 2.0 browsers.
(Windows Mobile - SmartPhones, Windows Mobile - Pocket PCs)
Pocket Internet Explorer is not fully WML compliant (it does not include the appropriate WML accept header), it also does not render the true XHTML-MP pages outputted by our wireless forum. In order to insure WML compliancy we had to to develop a redistributable for Pocket IE users. (See Attached)
Alternatively, Opera's Technical Preview browser for Windows Mobile SmartPhones can be downloaded at http://www.opera.com/download/mobile...Windows+Mobile . This browser supports both the XHTML-MP and WML markup modes of our wireless forum.
In the event that WiForums PIE AHM does not run on your Smartphone or Pocket PC, do the following to insure WML compliancy in Pocket IE:
----------------------------------
Download and install the PHM Registry Editor for Pocket PC (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/).
1) Close/End the Pocket Internet Explorer process.
2) Using PHM Registry editor access the below registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings
3) You should see a String Value named "Accept Header" (if it is not present create it), add the below text to its value:
,text/vnd.wap.wml
4) Click on Okay.
----------------------------------

If it's set to emulate a "standard" web browser then it will probaby send you to the main site. Waiting on a response from the vendor to confirm. |
