| Re: New Site Owner I just liked to look of the Repsol but I don't think I would buy one. Today I hit one of the big dealers and thought I would start safe, I went out for a ride on an 04 CBR600F which I got to stretch out a little in some areas - the performance was ok - you need to wind the revs up a long way to get going so it was not by any means a handfull. The sales guy was on a brand new 675 Triumph and half way we switched over (I think it was a ploy), now I know I am not comparing apples with apples but that Triumph was a very differnt bit of gear. Much more agressive tipping into turns and much more torque than the Honda, a dfferent bike alltogether and darn sweet to look at... So at this stage the F is off the list and Triumph is on with more test rides to come next week. |

| Re: New Site Owner Thanks speed - that is a generous offer considering my limited experience on serious road going machines. I did spend about 20 mins on the new 600 last week and I loved the way it worked. I was wondering how the good riders get these things off the line quickly without going up in smoke, just a different skill set and I can imagine in the wrong hands it could get very ugly.. |

| Re: New Site Owner Very late to the party, but congrats to the new owner!
I've been away for a long time, but looks like I'll be making at least a daily visit to the site again.
Now I have to go out and get another blade. |

| Re: New Site Owner You got yourself a bike yet? If not, the Honda is the easiest to ride of all the big bores. And coming of dirt squirters is a huge bonus. |

| Re: New Site Owner I was going hard on the bike shopping for a few weeks but I've had to put it to one side until I get some other things sorted. I have kept up the test riding however and I did fall in love with the KTM Superduke 990 because sitting on it I felt at home straight away and then it's got a great responsive engine. When time premits I am going to have a run on the new fireblade just so I know what it what. I've decided that I need 3 bikes at least. |

| Re: New Site Owner Saw one of the Ducati Hypermotards that was mentioned up above. It was the S model and all I can say is "Wow." Not really my thing but I still drooled over it for awhile. The guy that was riding it traded in a ZX-10 for it. Totally different bikes but he said he would never go back.

| Re: New Site Owner Oh yeah ... the KTM SuperDuke 990. The one I rode was a demo(stration) bike and, as such was a bit rough. They're AUD$20,000 here which I reckon is way too pricey for what they are. It's real fun to ride though.
I rode the SuperDuke back-to-back with the 1050 Speed Triple and, quite frankly, I reckon the Speed Triple shits all over the SuperDuke.
You stand a good chance of losing your licence on either of those bikes |

I personally believe that's the place to begin as you can build the necessary skills with less risk of killing yourself. Also, if I might add; the 1K would be a poor choice for a beginner bike for the young, inexperienced and/or immature, none of which is Craig. Sorry Craig; it's not that your old, you're just not young anymore. LOL He is obviously experience with riding motorcycles and of the age where he easily should have his wits about him. If he were 20 years younger, I would be saying "Amen CBR929RE", but he's not. On second thought, maybe I'm giving Craig way too much credit! At any rate, glad to have you on board Craig! |
