I've never owned a Winchester Model 70 type rifle with the acclaimed "controlled round feed" bolt, so I have always wondered what makes the Remington 700 style action a better bet for long-distance tactical/practical shooting.

yes .308. Model is a 700P

The scope is a mil-dot Nightforce with shield. The rings and other hardware to mount it cost more than most rifles.
