| Connecting a PC to a lap timer with IR? Has anyone connected the laptimer base to a PC using IR. I am curious if the beacon is pulsed or a steady beam that acts as a trigger on detect. Also do any of the bike mounted laptimers have IR out rather than USB to communicate back to the PC?

| Re: Connecting a PC to a lap timer with IR? The XT talks thru an IR module to your PC via a USB cable...
But you probably just have to hold it within 10 feet of a Mac and it will magically transfer the data with no user input whatsoever....

| Re: Connecting a PC to a lap timer with IR? Nice link Matt They have nice stuff but I am considering building my own (yes I am a glutton for punishment) and if the beacon was not a steady on but rather a signal I was planning on trying to use my iBook to capture some from someones beacon.... Just plotting....

| Re: Connecting a PC to a lap timer with IR? OK so I am still dreaming of making my own instrumentation package Here is some things I think might be nice...
1 Tire temperature
2 Lap time
3 Throttle Position
4 RPM
5 Front suspension position
6 Rear suspension position
7 Lean angle
8 MPH
9 GPS
10 Sheep ear flap speed
Any other ideas? This is a dream list not necessarily what I can do.

1 Tire temperature | Methinks you would always be tapping the gauge looking for the delta...

Accelerometer, HP output, time of day and various timing feataures, max speed, max lean, max of all of the above. KM/H, altitude, barometric pressure, current gear, tilt to measure how big your wheelie was, rate of rubber burn during burn outs, level of inappropriateness meter while squiding it up next to schools.....
The drag runs on the Veypor are a nice idea as well and the virtual Dyno feature. |

And is that elementary or high schools?
