Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
I just got this month Performance Bike Magazine in the mail today. Saw that Honda is making a new blackbird. It is to be a 1200cc with 155bhp. Just wondering if anyone knows anyting about it.

They were supposed to have built it for 2003 also... it didn't happen. We'll just have to wait and see.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
I saw something in a brit mag about the 2004 R1 today - it was wrapped in plastic though so I couldn't check it out.
Anyone?

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
I see the design team has been hard at work on the new 'bird. Other than the headlights it looks pretty much the same as it always has. I guess 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it,' but it would be nice to be able to distinguish the new model.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
If Honda were to release a new 'Super Blackbird' with a 1200cc engine and 155bhp, it would be a complete embarassment.
Seriously, 1200cc and only 155bhp? Give me a break. That engine should make at least 180bhp.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
I keep hearing more and more talk that Honda has a Blackbird chassis ready to go, and it was built for the V5. All speculation, can't wait until September when the new models come out.

You know Honda generally doesn't focus on maximum horsepower, but an overall package. However, in a class like this I think they need to step up for real if at all. If I recall, the XX was designed to beat the ZX-11. If they're gonna go to the trouble of designing a new 1200, it should beat the ZX-12. I'm not sure if they're willing to go after the Hyabusa.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
When the XX Came out (97??) it was the fastest production bike in the world. I'm sure Honda will do something.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
As far as fastest production bike, isn't the Hyabusa unofficially limited (more than the typical noise and emissions stuff)? It seems I read somewhere that Suzuki was pressured to stop advancing the top speed of the bike or they couldn't sell it...maybe this was in Europe.

Re: New Cbr 1200 xx
Busa is limited to, something like, 188. It's easy to remove the restriction though.
