| Dirty Neighbors Start Rant here:
I have lived in my current home for 9 years. The neighbor (My wifey refers to them as "Dirty Butts") were already here when we bought the place. He had a fairly clean yard, not pristine but not like now. He has to date 7 kids and another one on the way with him and his wife living in a 3 bedroom home that is not over 1200 sq. ft. He does not hold a fulltime job neither does his wife so we working americans support him and his baseball team. He does do some side work in the form of tree trimming. But he dumps the debris in his yard, back yard and the front yard. Wood, brush and chips line his "landscape". Toys are all over the place, he does not have trash service and burns the debris to get rid of the waste. This is in a residental neighborhood, not the ritz but a middle class neighborhood where everybody but him takes pride in their yard. As I sit here typing this he is dumping another load of brush. I have called: Indiana Department of Enviromental Management, County Planning commission, County commissioners, Township commissioners, child services and the health department. ALL of which say they cannot do anything about what he is doing! I ask why they tell me that he has a "Non - Conforming use" for that property that allows him to do that type of work for that site. The debris is piling up and some of the debris is over 5 years old. Chips and wood harbor bugs, insects, snakes and reptiles of all kinds but they say there is nothing I can do. Besides pulling him out of his own home an skull dragging this worthless MF'er down the street what else can "we" the neighbors do? And asking him to tidy up the place ain't gonna work. |

If it makes you feel any better, one of the neighbors on our cul-de-sac replaced a shower stall in their house and left the old one sitting out in the front yard for months. |

It doesn't look that bad to me. Maybe not my favorite thing to look at, but there's worse possible. You might invite them over for some holiday and offer them some condoms to prevent kid #8 from sliding down that loose pink canal his wife sits on every day. Maybe you can offer to mow his lawn for a few bucks? You know, capitalize on the situation? |

Invite them over, not a chance. They all stink to high heaven.
Me mow his lawn for money.... I don't take food stamps. Plus I ain't gonna FU my mower. |

Happens out here all the time with high society colliding with wildlife along the foothills. No matter how much people insist they want to be near the wilderness they need to pretty it up, relocate the predatorial species, kill all the bugs, plant invasive foreign plants, etc. I know the story well |

No zoning rules? I had the same problem with the "deliverance" gang next door until I saw a frickin rat sitting on top of their pile of junk and called the township commisioner with a gentle reminder about rabies and other communicable diseases that seems to accompany rats. They made him clean up all the junk within 3 days or he would need to ante up 2500.00 per day until it was all gone.
We aren't even zoned here, but when I mentioned my next call was to the local newspaper and radio station, they seemed to get very interested . . . |

| Re: Dirty Neighbors You say asking him to tidy it up won't work.....have you tried that? I've found that it's usually much better to try the obvious and least agressive methods first. Involving authorities and such right off the bat can make it even more difficult. |

and I think I can just make out a rat in pic number 7 . . . |

The only way out may be to move! Not sure how motivated the buyers would be once they see their potional new neighbors though. |

I would start by talking to the guy about the mess. It may not change anything but if you don't bring it up to him first, he'll probably respond more negatively when approached by the fuzz. |
