Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

Hey all,
I just found out some really bad news tonight. A girl I had met named Jennifer was involved in a very bad motorcycle wreck Sunday. She was riding an '02 SV650 (she's only been riding for about 2 months), when a car pulled out in front of her and she broadsided it. She has both ankles and both wrists broken, tore her pelvis in half from the back. It is put back together with one of those halo things. She tore her lower abdominal section up really bad--they operated on
that as well. She had to have 8 blood transfusions. When the local hospital called to the hospital where she was Care Flighted to, they were suprised to find out that she was actually alive. They say she'll be in the hospital for another 3 months or so.
I'm just typing this in shock right now. I've talked to her several times (outside of one of my classes) and she is really sweet. Sad thing is is she is only around 20-22 years old. I guess what is bothering me so much is that we just lost another one of our friends within the last 2 months, who was only 23, because of a damn cager.
This is starting to make me think twice about riding on the street. I know that wrecks are a common thing, but 2 wrecks now where one is dead and the other was almost taken as well within a 2 month period. I don't know. This just really bothers me. I've had so many close calls these past couple of weeks and this is really starting to make me think.
Sorry to rant and be so long, but I guess I just needed to think some things out and just get them out there.

Any prayers for her and her family would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

Gearhead, sorry to hear about that. I have to admit, yesterday, I had a similar scare. I was riding to work, and I saw a lot of tire smoke, and a group of cars came to a complete halt on the 5 fwy. I immediately went to lane splitting mode, and cut through the traffic. When I got to the front, there was an 01 Erion 929 laying in pieces in the 3rd lane of a 4 lane fwy. A truck and an 18 wheeler were moving off to the side. I actually started to pull over and snap a couple of pictures, but I looked around, and it seemed like everyone was watching me. I never saw the guy who went down, and thought about the 18 wheeler, and decided to keep moving. About a mile down the road, it hit me. I almost pulled over because I was sick. The next thing I thought of was how close that bike looked to G-Force's. And since he lives out there, I had to make sure it wasn't him. I walked into work still shaking. I have to say, I haven't ever really been shaken up like that before. It won't keep me off the bike, but it makes you really consider your own mortality.

Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

Accidents suck. As do most cage drivers. I watched an accident happen in front of me today, idiot in minivan turned left in front of another car. I hope your friend recovers from her injuries. They are all out to get you, thats how you got to ride. And accept the fact that someday you probaly will go down at no fault of your own.

Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

Sad to hear all this news on accidents again. Prayers and well wishes to your friend. I just assume that cagers don't see me and act accordingly.

Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

Sorry to hear Gearhead. This has not been a good year for us riders. Many we've known have been injured or killed. I hope its not a trend and that your friend makes a full recovery to ride again.

Gearhead, I'm very sorry about your friend. If you get the chance, let her know that we are all pulling for her. Please keep us posted on her condition.

I'll try to be nicer when you start trying to be smarter.

Re: Friend in Horrible Accident

That really sucks. I hope she heals up and gets through rehab ok. That will be a long road for her.

We must be not just good but great riders to survive.

Please post her name if you can - I'd like to put in a prayer-request at our church.
