My Doctor Used Google!

So I'm having a consult with my doctor, we've run some tests and things are all looking ok. Anyway we're discussing the next phase of the investigation and clearly things got a bit difficult for doctor so he goes to the keyboard and Google's up some answers. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm wondering what exactly I am paying for here, all's well that ends well and I'm ok but next time I might just consult Dr Google and cut out the guy in the middle.

And of course if I need second opinion there is Yahoo..

Why not? He just wants to make sure he has everything covered. Face it, he still has to translate to most people what he just read and explain.

My doc and I have video consults. He does it with a lot of his patients. So i dont have to go 400 miles to dallas tx, and vice versa.

I dunno, that would kinda freak me out....I like the doc to have it all upstairs.....Although Einstein did say that he wouldn't memorize anything he could look up.

Yes I saw the humor in the situation and of course I would only have been worried had he gone for MSN.

Hmm, my doctor has had to read up on parts before - brains aren't made like they used to be

... He has never used Google though, imagine if someone put something wrong on there. I wouldn't like to be the patient.

Use MetaCrawlerWeb Search Home Page, it searches all of the main search engines including Google, Yahoo, MSN Search and Ask. (work gave me it to use)

don't see the problem in it...doc is just watchin his ass because most people will sue at the drop of a hat anymore if any small thing goes wrong. even if the doctor has it all upstairs, if its something he/she doesn't see everyday a little "brush-up" doesn't hurt...and google beats dragging out a textbook anyday

I wouldn't worry about the doc googling something, my dear wife has an eidectic memory and it absolutely fascinates me the way she can recall stuff. I have tons of stuff crammed in my brain and can't recall it at will but some random even't triggers my recall of something I wanted to remember 2 weeks ago.

cybernetic systems are the way to go

then I won't have these worries.

I suppose I don't so much as have a problem with them because they do it, rather that they do it in front of me and then play it off like they're looking for the layman's term!

I was back in there today seeing Dr search engine and he did not bother to engage the mouse and keyboard. I would never swap him jobs, I think it would be the worst of the worst.

He sits in a small room all day dealing with sick people, no windows just one unhappy customer after the next. Nahh I will take a pass on that, I get to make my own rules and I like it that way.

Now House was running around on a Repsol for a while there right? And he's a long way removed from the family doctor who sits in a little room writing out prescriptions and doing prostate exams. BTW once you hit 45 your meant to have regular rubber glove inspections they say....

Nah it's not high my list either. By the time I am due I hope they have some sort of virtual test or I'm going to look around for a hot lady doctor.

I've been with my doctor for about 17 years, after so long you just learn to trust them - especially when they come to shows with you and treat you like a brother
