Thanks a lot Sir | I was keeping my suggestion to myself but
1 put it under a truck tire
2 move the truck over it
3 repeat step 2
4 buy a Mac

If this hasn't been asked, some basic questions if your problem is not solved.
When you get past the initial startup screen what, if any errors are displayed?
If errors are displayed are they something similar to no boot device available?
You stated you have tried booting from cd, but have you ensured your bios settings are correctly set to boot from cd, or did you specifically select
"boot from cd" in the boot options?
If your pc died like that but it still turns on and displays the initial startup screen (the manifacturer logo appears and so forth) then one of the most common type of failure on laptops especially is hard drive failure. |

I don't know if you have attempted it, but if the laptop has an external monitor connection (most do now) it might be worth a shot hooking it up to a monitor if you have one to test. If error lights are appearing on startup you probably wont get that far though. |

I have one other simple thing to try and that is to get into to it and see if maybe the card has moved ( a slight bump may have done it ) That would be far to simple an answer though

I would give it a shot and make sure the card is connected properly before anything else. Just take your time and keep all of the screws as organized as possible. Taking pictures of how things are organized is a great wat to start too.
Luckily the bigger dells are usually much easier to work on and open up than the smaller Japanese counterparts. |
