| Re: Dumb Governator Flash Yeah, I think people should be organ donors too. That bill would be fine with me. Hopefully they would allow people to specify whether they wanted the organs to go to a family member before some stranger if they should want it like that.
Edit: Then again we go back to the idea of some one running down a motorcyclist without a helmet for spare parts.

| Re: Dumb Governator Flash I disagree. No one should have to be an organ donor against their wishes simply because they choose to ride legally (if allowed in that state) without a helmet. That's just allowing more of your rights and freedom to be taken away. I believe in wearing a helmet, always; I think it's stupid not to. I'm also an organ donor. But it's my choice, as it should be. |

| I kinda agree... its one harsh way to get people to think twice before heading out without their helmets but I am sure it will work. |

| Re: Dumb Governator Flash Think about what you guys are saying by thinking this is ok. Folks who hate motorcycles already refer to them as "donorcycles". Do you really want this prejudice to become a law? If motorcycles are that dangerous (with or without a helmet) then they can also deny us health insurance and life insurance. Or, make us pay more than other folks because we're a minority that participates in a sport the general public feels is dangerous. The health insurance denial has, and is, happening. Folks who choose to ride without a helmet in a state that allows it are doing so legally. If they can take our organs without consent if we have no helmet it can just get worse from there. Weren't wearing your seatbelt? Pass that heart over here. Smoker? Give us those corneas, that's all we want, your heart and lungs are already shot. It can go on and on. |

| Re: Dumb Governator Flash Sounds like a great idea. Imagine that, an actual compromise coming from the government. Right now we have NO choice. Is that better than giving us a choice?
Imaging being forced to have insurance to ride a bike. What an outrage! They are just trying to control us.
Give me ONE good reason why this offends anyone. Religion? Give me a break! How many here agree with the lady in Florida when she didn't want to uncover her face for her DMV picture? Probably very close to none.
This law is many times less offensive than that ever growing snowball called "Homeland Security". Now that's something we should be very frightened of.

| Re: Dumb Governator Flash Well put HondaGalToo. Not only that, but imagine the possiblity of announcing to all cage drivers that you are an organ donar. If this is passed, riders without helmets are essentially saying "I AM A DONAR" to anyone who sees them. At the very least it is another step in stripping away a persons right to privacy/choice regarding their own body and beliefs.
Who knows, next maybe the Red Cross will set up check points for lidless riders and make them give blood.

| Re: Dumb Governator Flash Yo Petie, I know it's a little hard to comprehend at first but here in CA you have to wear a helmet (no choice). With this proposal, you can go without a helmet if you agree to be a donor (choice). But I’m not saying I’d ever ride without one.

This law is many times less offensive than that ever growing snowball called "Homeland Security". Now that's something we should be very frightened of. | First, it is the religious belief of MANY religions that one should not donate organs. So, sure you can ride without a helmet, as long as you aren't part of that religion. Discrimination by religion right?
Now, if your FL example is trying to counter the religious argument, I'd say it's apples to oranges. Hiding your face on your identification card is a lot different than forcibly giving organs to your government. (Only country I know that can force you to give up flesh (like your baby) is communist China)
Now, if you think this is actual compromise, I'd say this politician's dupe worked. This politician knew what he proposed would never pass for the reason above. This was merely a clever way to kill the bill.
BTW, I authorized organ donation (but hope to never be a doner!) and riding without a helmet is plain stupid. Of course, so are lots of things but that doesn't make them illegal.
