Doesn't surprise me in the US. It would surprise me in Canada... I think calling in 6000 troops would be about doubling our efforts.

I am active duty and it pisses me off. I still have 10 more years until I retire but I know it will ruin a lot of these folks lives and new jobs they got after they got out. There will be some that want to do it and I applaud them.
But it will hurt a lot of people.

I think it is bad and a sign that we are stretching the military too thin. I was IRR for 4 years and thank God they didn't call me back. I was back in my civilian life by then and getting called back up was not something I would have expected or been prepared for.

Yup! What you said. Thing is these people ALREADY did their duty to our country and in my opinion shouldn't have to be called back.

Thanks for serving by the way!

It's a real challenge for me to control my temper when I see the same people who have already sacrificed time away from their families, jobs, school etc, being asked to bear the burden of U.S. policy and security while 95% of Americans gripe about standing in line at Starbucks. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Ego and ideology driven politicians (who by the way, don't support a draft) should either accept the fact that we can't afford to be the world's big brother, or stand up and be counted by sending their kids and their brother' and sister's kids to augment the line. It's too damn easy to say we are doing this and we need to do that while such a small percentage of American's truly pay the price. It's just more of the bullshit of war!
