Our construction company, despite tough times, is preparing to distribute around $40,000.00 in bonuses to our hard-working employees. The employees are not part of any collective bargaining agreement, as we are a non-union firm. We are therefore not obligated to give these bonuses, we are doing it because we care about our employees and want to thank them for their hard work to the best of our financial ability.
Question - in theory then, if the corporate tax rate were higher on us greedy fat cat corporations, isn't it conceivable that we would not have the funds available to give to our employees? When they receive bonuses of several hundred dollars each, don't they stimulate the local economy through their purchases, helping other working people?
And exactly how will higher taxes benefit us again, Senator Kerry?
