| Re: Should he resign? The potential backlash isn't really about the gay affair, it is the circumstances surrounding it. Supposedly, he imported this guy from Israel, and got him job after job (like, one time he tried to get him a Homeland Security job, but he couldn't pass the background check, imagine that). The kicker came when he was employed by the McGreevey campaign (@$110k/yr), so he is filing a sexual harassment suit (supposedly, it will be filed up in Trenton this morning). That suit was the straw that broke the camel's back.
EDIT: This is all hearsay flying through in the news. Even the news broadcasters are saying that this seemed to come out of the blue and that what we here should be taken with a grain of salt.
Kind of sad, he was a decent governor.
I grew up in Maryland where William Donald Schaeffer ruled for a good long time (I think he hit some term limit barrier, so now he is the State Comptroller). It was a shock to move to Arizona, which has a history of sending its governors to jail. So, this came as less of a shock. I am curious to know how many other states routinely have governors who step aside, rather than serve their full terms.
