| This is great news!! http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...sa_military_dc
Let's get out of that damned ingrateful country and continent. Then, next time Germany invades france, let's let them keep it.
We're not needed in South Korea either, as China, Japan and Russia don't want the little gnome attacking the south any more than we do. The only threat North Korea poses is in selling their technology off. |

By TONY CZUCZKA, Associated Press Writer
BERLIN - German officials voiced concern Monday that their country has the most to lose with President Bush (news - web sites)'s announcement that tens of thousands of troops will return to the United States over the next decade.
With some 70,000 U.S. soldiers based in Germany, thousands of local jobs — from bakers to maintenance workers and office personnel — depend on the Americans, who first came as occupying forces after World War II.
European and Asian countries with U.S. troops have braced for the changes for several years, but Bush's announcement Monday that up to 70,000 uniformed personnel and 100,000 dependents will gradually be moved back to the United States brought home the full impact.
"Base closures would hit us very hard," said city spokesman Ole Kruse in the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg, home of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division.

| Re: This is great news!! The other beauty of this is how it puts the lefties in such a quandry. They are all for the closure of bases within the U.S., not giving any consideration to the economic impact is has on our own cities.
So, how are they gonna be anti-Bush over this one?
What is Skerry's reply gonna be on this one? Well, the first reply that is, as we all know he'll take every side of this within a couple months.
Is it just fine to close bases Stateside, yet not close them in countries that don't deserve our help? Is it because they'll be hurt economically? Is it because Bush proposed it?
Why are we still there anyway? We started our occupation of Germany nearly 60 years ago, yet we haven't even been in Iraq two years and they're already crying about that.
This is so good on so many levels. Yet the single most important reason is that it brings some of our boys home. Second and third would be that it helps our economy and hurts the ingrates'. |

| Re: This is great news!! i do believe this is a good idea. we cant even protect ourselves here at home. why have hundreds of thousands of troops overseas when they are needed here. once we can protect our own soil then think about moving some of our guys overseas. |
