I find it interesting that Israel has recently acquired the long range bombers and bombs to make a strike against Iran a reality. The only main "axis of evil" targets remaining "in power" are N. Korea and Iran. Is this the first instance of in-roads in Iran?
Whats this gonna do to violence and suicide attacks in Israel? I guess at this point, they figure it can't get a whole lot worse? Only thing worse is nuclear/dirty bomb attacks, which they'd like to prevent...
What say ye? Anyone have thoughts on this? |

| Re: Israel making bold statements concerning Iran? I'm not sure Israel can do anything to prevent its neighbors from hating them. Only Jordan has welcomed a warm-peace agreement with them. Egypt has what's considered a cold-peace agreement. Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Palestine...they've done little to resolve the issue with Israel. IMHO - they never will because they don't want Israel there in the first place.
I think that if Israel were to strike in order to prevent Iran from completing their quest to build nuclear weapons it would probably only cause Iran to make public what is has been keeping semi-private -- and that is that it wants to see Israel gone. |

| Re: Israel making bold statements concerning Iran? Israel isn't about to evaporate any time soon, nor for the foreseeable future, so I cannot comprehend the pervasive notion in the West that many (most?) of the nations of the Middle East wish the destruction of Israel. There are of course the utterances implying such a concept being made by many Mid-Eastern politicos on seemingly a continual basis, but I'm inclined to believe those are for public consumption. They cannot seriously believe that Israel will be extinct some day, not while the United States indicates its on-going support of the country (in perpetuity?). So Iran appears to want nuclear weaponry of their own. Why might that be? If they ever threaten to use such weapons, let alone utilize them, all hellfire will be rained down upon them. That is pretty much guaranteed, I think. Are they in fact looking to develop a nuclear program for just what they claim, electricity, but are secretly enjoying the sport of jerking the West's figurative chains? Would that be in culturally in character for persons from the Middle East? |

| Re: Israel making bold statements concerning Iran? I think all Muslim nations are committed to the destruction of Israel. They see Israel as an occupying force of infidels over Gaza, the West bank, and Palestine. I think that as soon as Israel’s neighbors have the means to dispose of Israel they will try to do so.
Israel is tiny geographically - even one primitive nuke could do immense destruction there. I think they are the ones that need to worry about Iran building nukes.
I hope Israel unilaterally ends Iran's nuclear aspirations - just like they did with Iraq years ago. |

| Re: Israel making bold statements concerning Iran? I'd be willing to bet that tiny little country has plenty of nukes of their own and even without them would be more than happy to clean some Muslim clocks.
Go Israel! |

I hope Israel unilaterally ends Iran's nuclear aspirations - just like they did with Iraq years ago. | From wha i hear, it won't be that easy this time. Iran has learned from Iraq's mistakes and has supposedly decnetralized the nuclear program to many smaller sites, most of which are unknowm obviously. one attack from isreal, and iran's launching their long range missles which will reach isreal.
Of course that's a worse case scenario, but i think a counter attack such as that will force isreal to pull out their 200 or so nukes, that supposedly don't exist, which will bring about world wide condemnation, due to their secrecy and deceit for all this time.
