Well well...it looks like Missouri hasn't become another "Old West", with people knocking down the doors of their local sheriff's office to apply for a permit. For the first year, we've had 13,748 applications.

It should be noted that you don't need a permit to carry in your car, but the Highway Patrol expected around 60k applications in the first year. The most important statistic, though, is the lack of gun-related incidents where the wielder was licensed to carry. I haven't done the research so don't quote me, but the mere lack of a report of such an incident in our press -- who did everything they could to lobby against this -- would lead me to believe that those who are carrying are doing so responsibly.
The point is, don't believe all the propaganda you hear in your local paper when it comes to a heated issue such as this.
