 | Conceal-and-Carry stats for Missouri Well well...it looks like Missouri hasn't become another "Old West", with people knocking down the doors of their local sheriff's office to apply for a permit. For the first year, we've had 13,748 applications. StlToday article It should be noted that you don't need a permit to carry in your car, but the Highway Patrol expected around 60k applications in the first year. The most important statistic, though, is the lack of gun-related incidents where the wielder was licensed to carry. I haven't done the research so don't quote me, but the mere lack of a report of such an incident in our press -- who did everything they could to lobby against this -- would lead me to believe that those who are carrying are doing so responsibly. Glad to hear the press hasn't had cause to publish anything negative out there. Unfortunately, I know there is no hope in my state no matter how much evidence there is.
