The warning system can work to some degree sans bouys/sensors, but is not as accurate or quick.

The largest component of it's efficacy in the Pacific is not the additional bouys, but the education... People are taught the dangers and warning signs, and how to act appropriately....

BTW Australia has just announced that it will start a project to give early warnings of Tsunamis.

But I guess as it hasnt affected the US all that much then you guys dont really give a toss. I think you've really shown your true colours. So this is what the thread is about? I thought it was started to inform people of the disaster that has happened in south-east asia. Why did it need to be made poiltical? Its not animosity towards the US. Its animosity toward the attitude that the US is the be-all-and-end-all. This is a terrible tragedy, I personally am fairly grief stricken. Obviously many on this site dont give two shits about anyone but themselves. If it has nothing to do with the US they will either make fun of it, or find some way to make the US a victim. The death toll has just passed 80,000 people. 80,000 people have died, millions more have absolutely nothing left but all you can crap on about is what I think of you, and how the US is a victim in all of this. There are many victims, and the US, like Australia, got off very, very lightly.

This has nothing to so with the US. I dont care what country these morons come from, their nation has nothing to do with this issue. If they were from Uzbekistan I would still feel the way I do, and would still express what I think about them. I dont get it, this has nothing to do with the US, nor its citizens.
