Many a European will be shaken for so many of them were over there for holidays & the good beeches & weather.

Most were not carrying any ID on them when it hit.

A friend and associate of mine, who does independent contracting for IT companies, has spent a lot of time in Thailand recently, partnering with a friend of his in an ocean-front dive shop business. About two weeks ago, a group of one-time co-workers had planned to get together for a holiday lunch/reunion/BS session, but (Rich) replied via e-mail to say he was in Thailand, and would be there until 1/7/05.

I sent him an e-mail today, because we haven't heard from him. I'm completely distracted and hoping he's okay.

On the other hand, it seems a bit selfish to worry about the one person I know who is in the area, while tens of thousands of others have perished. There is no denying the enormity of this tragedy. It makes a person feel small.

Thoughts and prayers for everyone touched by this event.

I googled news on a few names of local cities in the area like Chennai (India).

Sad to read about parents and others identifying bodies of their children. Kinda touches home if you have kids yourself.

Also brings to mind. Prep yourself for quakes if you are in the ring of fire. You cant give (earth) to one side without taking somewhere else. Wouldnt be surprised to see something happen on the west coast.
