| Inauguration Celebration? Should this inauguration celebration go off as planned, or should it be muted compared to years past?

| Re: Inauguration Celebration? I find all inaugurations to be over blown wastes of time, so yes mute it to a minimal ceremony and be done. That said I see no reason this election is different from others
Also the $$$ spent are only partly mine (the security is gov funded)

| Re: Inauguration Celebration? And soon enough the Iraqi people will be celbrating their first democratically elected President's inauguration.
Oh, I guess the Palestinians are in a similar boat as well.
Man, this spreading freedom and allowing people to vote thing has to stop. We are so evil. |

| Re: Inauguration Celebration? Where am I coming from? You know exactly where I'm coming from. I am reminding everyone (because the moronic leftist major media won't) that Afghanistan is also having inaugural celebrations for the first time EVER, and that Iraq will do so shortly as well for the first time in many decades.
Both those events were possible for one reason and one reason only.
Bush has every right to celebrate his inauguration how he sees fit. There is a ton of private money coming in to support this. Sure, tax monies will be spent to provide the security - like it ALWAYS has, but if Bush's supporters want to spend their money to throw a big bash, there is no reason for it not to happen.
We all know that if the ass party were throwing this party, there would be no mention of cost - although the cost would have been larger to provide security for all the pompous arrogant extreme left wing activist "actors" from the hollywood halfwit society.
It is another example of the extremist media making a non-story into a big ordeal. |

| Re: Inauguration Celebration? BDA,
It all boils down to dealing with the sore losers. It's not about the money, his policy, or even the war in Iraq. They just want their power back.
BTW, The last war-time President to curtail Inauguration festivites was FDR I believe. He saved a few bucks that one day but he more than made up for it with his welfare policies. |

Instead of masking their true colors by whining about the money, why doesn't the media just tell the truth and state that they did everything in their power to take the Presidency away from Bush and now they want to bitch about it.
At least that way one could respect their opinion, rather than be disgusted all over again by their blatant bias. |

| Re: Inauguration Celebration? I can't believe there is no banter about Bush's Inauguration speech....
Given his penchant for doing what he says, this speech should be percieved by the left as his most apocryphal to date....
What say ye?

Coming from the man who gave us the Patriot Act, and whose religious people have been tyrannizing our media over the word **** and a boob on TV (especially when Cheney told a critic to **** yourself) I found the speech's focus on freedom repugnant, and was mad as hell.
George W. Bush has taken away more freedoms than any Republican pres I can think of.
I believe Kerry would've been worse, but I'm not a fan of Dubya.
