It was only a matter of time
RIP and to his family my most sincere condolences.
Being an Aussie this tends to cut a little deeper. His death is no more tragic than anyothers, however it feels a little closer to home.

Among the victims was an Australian, Paul Pardoel, 35, formerly of Victoria. Flight Lieutenant Pardoel worked for the Royal Air Force and lived in Britain.
| So none of the other hundreds matter I guess? You're a piece of work... |

Cowboy yes it is tradgic however it is no different than when any other co-allition soldier is killed. Being a plane crash is a very unfortunate accident as aginst an act of war, ie he wasn't shot down.
War is a no win situation and sadly it was only a matter of time before an Australian was killed over there, he most likely won't be the last.
We have lost 1, the Brits a lot more, the Americans hundreds, please put it into context your not winning us any friends from the other side of the pacific at the moment.

| Re: Why does this have to happen? Hrmmmm....ok.....
I see its at this stage again. All I was doing was highlighting that Australia has lost its first solider of the war. Every life lost is tragic, this no more than any other coalition, I just feel there is a little signifcance as its Australia's first casualty. I in no way meant to troll. My comment about Howard and Bush is what I believe, you all know that, it wasnt designed to create argument. I still feel that we shouldnt be in Iraq and every death of a coalition solider is because they were put in harms way by Bush and Howard(and all the others who have sent troops). Thats not going to change, nor do I expect you views to change. Im not looking for another argument about that. Just trying to bring to attention that another has died, and one that means just a little more to me than the rest.
EDIT: I did just relise however that I ****ed up big time and put it in the Politics forum. This was not intentional. I think it should have been in the Off-Topic.
I'll take the blame for the reactions. Not my intention to turn this into a political debate.
Conq can you move it for me?
EDIT 2: Just looked again and relised that it was in the Off-Topic. Conq this isnt meant to be a political debate. I was merely highlighting that Australia has lost its first soldier and my anguish at who I believe to be partly responsible.

So none of the other hundreds matter I guess? You're a piece of work... | I dont ever recall saying that none of the others mattered. This is however the first Australian to die in Iraq. Hence the extra significance, for me anyway. It's one of those "cant happen to us" kinda feelings. Its been over a year and no Australians had died. We see and hear about so many others that you cant help but begin to think that no Aussie will end up dying. Its hard not to feel a little removed when it doesnt happen to someone from ur own country. This brings it all back to reality. |

Or did it never occur to you that someone besides yourself could feel that way?
Everyone knows that I love trolling as much as the next guy, but you stooped to a new low with this thread by using the death of another human being as your bait....

I have nothing but respect for every person who is/was/died fighting in this war. Never have I been disrespectful, and that certainly isnt beginning now.
This was not meant to be political. Think what you like but I am in no way using the death of a fellow Australian as bait. You can stick that idea where the sun dont shine. |

Not only did you do it, but then you retracted it to cover your tracks in a most cowardly fashion....

| Re: Why does this have to happen? Suggestion try wording similar to this next time:
"
Today Australia had it's first Iraq war casualty <insert>, may he RIP and to his family my most sincere condolences.
"
That would have been off-topic MAYBE but certainly not a troll. You insert way to much editorial to claim it to be non-political Anytime you add and let's hang this guy it is political and you know it. Either read your posts before thinking or even let them sit in a seperate window for a bit to think on what you just said.
That said my condolences to the soldier's family and friends may his sacrifice not be in vain.

I'm disappointed by the attitude of the first three replies. Both Cowboy and the Aussie airman deserves more respect. |
