for YEARS, people saw the military as an opportunity for free money for school and an easy career. They are actually having to provide a service now and lots of them are freaking out. I didn't enlist after college because I didn't wanna spend my prime in a 3rd world shithole if it came to that. I guess this cat didn't think about that aspect of his service.
They'll get him, oh yeah, its coming... |

| Re: +1 for Canadia Dissertion in wartime used to be punishable by death, if I'm not mistaken. When you VOLUNTEER for the military you are agreeing to go to war with whomever the Commander In Chief says to attack.
These pieces of scum who join to go to college for free and then turn squimish when they actually need to do something dangerous make me ill. |

I don't want my tax dollars paying for his education if he's not willing to fulfill his end of the bargain/contract.
Fleeing to another country just shows what a spineless whimp he is. Not even man enough to stand up for what he believes in, which in this case is not going to Iraq. |

Exactly.
I never understood those who were outraged because their son/daughter/husband/wife, who had signed up because they simply wanted a "better education than they could afford otherwise", are now having to actually serve their country in a war.
Did they not understand the concept of joining the military? |

"They used to shoot Army deserters, didn't they?
At least theoretically, you can [still] get a death sentence for this. And, no, I don't think it's a real likely possibility. But look at the Bush administration and look at what they've done or what [Attorney General Alberto] Gonzales has done, or whoever. They're totally willing to do unprecedented and uncustomary things to fight this war. And I wouldn't put it past them to do something drastic with us."
Even though he deserves it...give me a break. It would never happen and he knows it. As he said, he signed up for it. Do your job like a man. |
