Re: I thought the Americans could do everything

Just a question. Do you think this helped any?
It is nice what they did for the boy but what has it done to their outlook?
They see all the wealth and now go back to a war torn nation.
Will this family begin to hate the US for not sharing its wealth or see the possibilities and understand why the US did what it did?

Re: I thought the Americans could do everything

They saw the truth. Hopefully they realized that most of the stuff that they've heard about or seen on TV has been lies.

Before my family moved here, we pretty much heard the same things, and the rest of my family that's still in Europe still believes it even after us telling them for many years now that what they see and hear is not very accurate.

The world does not have an accurate depiction of the US, and that is why we're hated.

Thank you to the media.

Interesting. Do you think that average Americans have an accurate depiction of the rest of the world?

I think not and the media is not helping.

No, absolutely not. People need to get out and travel more, see stuff for themselves. The world would be a much better place.

Kuss and ND4SPD, good thoughts. The world is a very different place depending from where you look at it.

I don't think this exercise did much. 1 little kid and his bitter father will not a nation make. Don't comic books make great villians out of such humble beginnings? Ayad: "I will kill all Americans so I can go back there and reclaim all the riches they promised me... muhahahaha"

Based on the article they weren't bitter at Americans. It sounded more like they were bitter at the difference between the truth and what they were told.
