| Jimmy Carter is disgraceful or not? Saw this article and my blood began to boil. First here is a guy that while a nice person was an utter failure on US defense shooting off his mouth. Then I read it occurred in a foreign country! So I am think king weasel with blood at full boil. Then I read the article, when given the context he did not say what the headline said. He said it could be an aggravating factor but was not the source. Yet the America hating press cannot understand why more and more people are turning away from their "news"

| Re: Jimmy Carter is disgraceful or not? That's why I listen, read, watch the news out of the UK (BBC, SKyNews, etc). They have shown themselves to be truly "fair and balanced" unlike our news sources. |

He is a pretty smart man. If I am not mistaken, he is a nuc engineer by trade. He just doesn't have the balls to be the leader of a superpower country. He needs to defect to France. |

| Re: Jimmy Carter is disgraceful or not? Hmmm, interesting. I am a fan of much of Carter's stuff. For example, the military build-up plan Reagan did was largely initiated by Carter...
No doubt though, Carter does not have a "tough" personality like Reagan did, part of what made the build up so menacing.

| Re: Jimmy Carter is disgraceful or not? Not all of what he did was bad but he is an appeasement oriented socialist at heart. While he has good intentions his actions sometimes are not helpful. Take Habitat For Humanity a great sounding idea but they do not give counseling to go with the new asset (house). Most folks that get a house in the program need the education on how to handle money more than the money. Back in my poor days the neighborhood I lived in had 4 houses built by HFH, 3 or 4 were unliveable in 3 years and the fourth was lost by the owner.

No doubt. An attorney my GF worked for loved to repeat a saying I really like (though it's far from PC):
"Poor people have poor habits"
But while I agree with you, education would be smart, you have to admire he's at least giving thousands of people a chance... |

But,
I have nothing but respect for his work with HFH.
He may be a bit confused politically, but he is a hard working SOB. |

| Re: Jimmy Carter is disgraceful or not? All I gotta say is, if more of our current crop of "politicians" (currently installed criminals included here) manifested the scruples, honesty, and well meaning that Carter did our nation would be a hell of a lot better off.
Look at our nation today and ask yourself whether or not you like what you see. |

I'm just saying that America was in much better shape, and commanded much more respect from the world in general before the current stole, er, I mean, won the elections.
Peace, out... |

Peace, out... | Of course you know I am going to vehemently disagree with you on these statements...
You call the Clinton era "much better shape" and I call it blissful ignorance that dug a deep hole for the subsequent administrations to dig out of...
During his tenure, Al Quaeda made a formal declaration of war against the United States...and he did NOTHING. He was far too worried with the trappings of pop culture to focus on real problems. Instead, he shirked his responsibility... and then capped it off by degrading our military...weakening our intelligence...and presenting a weak front that encouraged our enemies to attack us on our own soil...
His own DoJ turned a blind eye to corporate accounting fraud because they were busy doing stoopid **** like Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Elian Gonzales...
When Bush lawfully beat Gore, Clinton he was handed the reins to a poorly defended country with an economic bubble ready to burst...
Luckily Bush had the tenacity to tackle tough issues and begin the process of rebuilding the institutions. Like any good leader, he is not afraid to take the heat for making a tough decision...
The majority of Americans realized this, and acknowledged it by re-electing him to a second term. While they disagreed with him on some issues, they understood that those tough choices have to be made...
To use your words... if anyone "stole" anything, then the Clinton administration "stole" from the American public by not doing the damned job they were elected to do...packaging it in a smile...and then leaving the mess for someone else to clean up....
