| Re: Able Danger No lawyer or politician is properly hung nor serves any jail time, a commitee of 'experts' is formed that puts out a huge document that says little and yet is misqouted by the media, we get a huge bill to go with the huge document, and political correctness kills more americans

watch it on or what paper I can read their articles. Is this the same press that didn't mention a word about the Downing Street memos for weeks after they were announced? Or the same press that let the Jeff Gannon incident just disappear without a word? Why would the "liberal press" want to restrict stories that make their political combatants look bad? |

| Re: Able Danger If you can't see the difference in the way the press reports on the present Bush admin vs. the way they report anything that may hurt the liberals then I can't help you either. This Able Danger thing is HUGE. We knew about several of the Hijackers a year before their plan came to fruition and nothing was done. The Clinton admin choose to do nothing because he would rather play his sax on late night TV then deal with anything.
Imagine this news had come out and it was the Bush admin that had known about the hijackers and done nothing. How would the (self admitted) liberal mainstream press have reacted?
And to answer your question try ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and the Washington Post, just to name a few.

| Re: Able Danger It's heating up... Quote: Weldon: Atta Papers Destroyed on Orders By DONNA DE LA CRUZ, Associated Press Writer
A Pentagon employee was ordered to destroy documents that identified Mohamed Atta as a terrorist two years before the 2001 attacks, a congressman said Thursday.
The employee is prepared to testify next week before the Senate Judiciary Committee and was expected to name the person who ordered him to destroy the large volume of documents, said Rep. Curt Weldon (news, bio, voting record), R-Pa.
Weldon declined to name the employee, citing confidentiality matters. Weldon described the documents as "2.5 terabytes" — as much as one-fourth of all the printed materials in the Library of Congress, he added.
A Senate Judiciary Committee aide said the witnesses for Wednesday's hearing had not been finalized and could not confirm Weldon's comments.
A message left Thursday with a Pentagon spokesman, Army Maj. Paul Swiergosz, was not immediately returned.
Weldon has said that Atta, the mastermind of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and three other hijackers were identified in 1999 by a classified military intelligence unit known as "Able Danger," which determined they could be members of an al-Qaida cell.
On Wednesday, former members of the Sept. 11 commission dismissed the "Able Danger" assertions. One commissioner, ex-Sen. Slade Gorton, R-Wash., said, "Bluntly, it just didn't happen and that's the conclusion of all 10 of us."
Weldon responded angrily to Gorton's assertions.
"It's absolutely unbelievable that a commission would say this program just didn't exist," Weldon said Thursday.
Pentagon officials said this month they had found three more people who recall an intelligence chart identifying Atta as a terrorist prior to the Sept. 11 attacks.
Two military officers, Army Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer and Navy Capt. Scott Phillpott, have come forward to support Weldon's claims. |

| Re: Able Danger Love the media, haven't heard a word of this anywhere. Admittedly, I have been on holidays and out of the loop, so haven't been listening to my usual radio programs on ABC News Radio, which normally does a good job of reporting everything in a neutral manner. Will be watching this with great interest...

| Re: Able Danger Once again, our buddy Clinton failed to take actions against these punks. Probably didn't want to ruin Gore's chance at being President.
One of the problems with our system is, you are guilty of anything till after you do it, which if you think of it is a good thing. Next think ya know we will be part of the "Minority Report".
Hope someone fry's over this. Funny how this isn't on the news anywhere. |
