Like my Grandfather couldn't pronouce "funeral" or "aluminum". Or, as you said, maybe he just chooses not to pronounce it correctly. No, it doesn't make him an idiot. I don't like/disagree with many things he has done, but I don't think he's stupid. Or an idiot. |

There's always gonna situations that no matter how you were brought up you have to make up your own mind.
But I mean come on he should have given them hell for some of the stuff they've done. Make them learn that they can't do some of that stuff around him and if they don't learn he just shouldn't have them around important events. It makes him look bad when they do that. I'm not talking about the stuf they've done in college or anything, just how they act around him. Not only should they have a little respect for him because he's their father but he's the ******* President.

Having kids are a roll of the dice.
My parents are both terrible at math. I am not. How could this be so? They did not have the tools to help me...I was beyond their math ability in junior high school.
We are born with innate abilities and tendencies. All we can hope for from our parents is that they provide a safe/loving environment for the good ones to grow in. |

We are born with innate abilities. All we can hope from our parents is that they provide a loving environment for them to grow in. | but being good or bad at math really isn't part of your upbringing and isn't a reflection on anyone's parenting. I was decent at math in high school but my sister always struggled with it. same parents different result. I don't see where you're going with this.
innate abilites is one thing but I don't think people are predisopsed to make bad choices right when they are born. Yes there are always exceptions to everything and of course sometimes no matter how good someone is brought up they could still turn out bad.

| Re: Bush is an idiot... I think that there is a lot we can do with our kids, but it is still a big roll of the dice.
My son had a 500 word vocabulary by the time he was a year old. My daughter barely spoke a work until she was three. My son has an extremely high IQ, but is not the best student. He took an astromomy course with college kids when he was 9 years old, but at the same time, he was excelling in that, he was near failing in regular school. My daughter is more 'normal', but she is a great 'student'.
Before having kids, I always thought it was nurture over nature, but now I think the other way.
You are right about labels. Left vs right is a way to point out how different we are, when we are really much more the same than we are different. |

| Re: Bush is an idiot... Well said Zippy.
I'm an engineer, my brother struggled with algebra in high school (as in, couldn't pass it).
If I had to guess your son is extremely bored in class. I speak from experience...and had the suspensions and bad grades from class to prove it. |

Liberals however believe you are direct products of your upbringings/environment... The difference being is that you want to take responsibility for your own self, want to make your own decisions, etc... Its always someone else's fault in a extreme left mindset... |

| Re: Bush is an idiot... And....back to the subject....Idiot vs Stupid....fine line between the two.
What Bush is.......self serving....indifferent to the average person....a liar....a manipulator....and partly delusional.
there is a laundry list of shite he has done...wether or not it classifies him as an idiot or brilliant depends on who you are and where you sit.
In approximately 6 years he and his administration have taken this country from the largest surplus in our history approx $250 billion dollars to the largest Debt ever at $7.8 trillion dollars. While our nation becomes more indebted....the companies affiliated with the Bush bubble have become very very wealthy. Ever heard of Hoover's online?? Trace some of the names of the Bush administration both current AND Daddy bush and see what companies they are affiliated with...!!! I KNOW where our money has gone. Oil company profits are up dramaticly, military equip mfg and parts suppliers stocks have gone up in some cases more than 300% ! The various contractors are making money hand over fist in no bid contracts...If you like...I can provide you with the names of the companies, the individuals...and the the stock tikers for the last 6 years. Its a long list
How many people have been killed in Iraq so far?? US military..Iraqi military...civilians...All of this based on lies...YES...lies. As a former Marine infantry I cringe knowing that so many people are being killed under the pretense of lies.Iraq IS NOT AFGHANISTAN and any inferences to convince people that it is are intentionally misleading.
As for the religious right and his payback to them for the support to get him elected...don't get me started..
While Clinton wasn't squeaky clean by a long shot...the crap he pulled and the behind the scenes greasy tactics he used netted a benefit for the people of this country as well as his cronies. Bush....just his cronies..
All Presidents are shady to one degree or another...its the nature of the beast. the difference between a good and bad president is if they keep the best interests of THE people in mind....not just HIS people....
here is just a couple of the big items...when someone comes up with a valid contradiction to them...I'll be interested in reading them |
