It's people like you who make the US look bad and whom I was referring to. Baketech wonders why I keep seeing the need to tell people like you where I am from....
I dont know where you get the "small mans" complex crap? Couldnt think of anything better? | Ouch. Now you went and hurt my feelings (In my best Nicky Hayden accent).
Okay, I make the U.S. look bad, because I'm loyal to my Country, what it's founded on, and vocalize it?
Where are you from?
Sorry about the "small mans complex" comment. You see, here in the land of "Freedom of Speech", we may bring up issues of debate, and after some thought, articulate an opinion. Sometimes we share our viewpoints with others. Obviously, you are not acclimated to this type of exchange.
I will take this into consideration.
The topic is: The American "Pledge of Allegiance". You are from Australia, which puts you at a disadvantage in the context of experience. You stated that you are somewhat annoyed at Americans who often say they are from the best country in the world.
This comment makes me believe you might have some type of issue that you are harboring, especially since your statement is off topic, and that all is not well with you in the land of the 'roo.
Personally, I get tired of hearing people complain about Americans, so if you don't like my response to your whining like a bitch, find some support group for little girls who dislike Americans with opinions. |

| Re: Judge rules pledge unconstitutional Dang, I missed out on this topic. I love this topic. I read some of this but it is a long thread. It was mentioned that in the constitution the state shall not support any one religion. The pledge can be construed to imply that god is the name of the supreme being for one religion. Hence since public schools are primarily supported by state/federal monies it cannot support the pledge as it is now without actually supporting one religion over others. So the way to correct it is to take "under god" out of the pledge or have kids place their own "god's" name in the pledge. Personally I am for taking it out all together. Especially since the original version never had it to begin with. But I am also for not saying the pledge at all.
I will say luvtolean did a great job in defending his position and a big to him. As for a significant topic the pledge of allegiance is small potatoes. A more significant topic is illegal search and seizure or freedom of the press. Both of which have been trampled by many government agencies over the years. |

| Re: Judge rules pledge unconstitutional The percentage of people in the United States who claim a religious affiliation is much higher today than it was when our country was founded. I had a whole class on religion in the early US in college (mostly for the easy 'A') but it was very interesting. I think I still have a lot of the info at home.
Though I believe in God and Jesus, I have to agree with ltl about the pledge (and even our currency).
BTW estoteric, Sunbert is a molecular biologist, and I've recently brushed up on integration, differentials, etc. so we can talk about that too.

Esoteric, you'll find many very highly educated people on this site. Best to be careful with your assumptions.

Of course, there are many more important issues, at least on the surface, concerning the world today. But this case:
1) Lets the government know we're vigilant in protecting our rights as Americans
2) Adresses what I like to call "creep" in our laws. It's like the slow taking away of personal privacy, and the right to bear arms. Start fighting these things now, rather than when the right is gone.
3) At least to me, is intellectually very interesting |

Finishing up all my lower division stuff right now. Will be heading into the AE/ME program at UCI. I'm sooooo tired of software and video games. I'm needing more "grown up" things to do to be satisfied... |

Pick up a BS in that, come back later for something extra in math if my (future) employer is interested, although they offer higher degrees in AE, so that's appealing too. I'd like to make cool stuff like airplanes, spaceships, cars, motorcycles, **** that lands on Mars (not much interest in **** on Uranus), stuff like that. |
