Re: Judge rules pledge unconstitutional

Actually, I think it upholds what the Founding Fathers were trying to do. Though I dislike the consequence, I think it was a good ruling. Same with flag burning. Sometimes we have to protect the ideals of the Constitution even if we disagree with the results.

The pledge isn't that old BTW.

Interesting take on the history of the pledge here.

So much fighting over children saying the "pledge of allegiance", and nobody bringing up adults spending "God Money" in support of Islamic Terrorists? Priorities.

It's just the 9th Circus. They are always overturned, and always illegally and un-Constitutionally create new left wing extremist law that gets squashed.
Nobody cares about those activist judges.

Keeping religion out of public life is the only way to go. Imagin if islam were to become the majority in the USA. how you you like to hear the call to prayer five times a day. OR have Alla in our courts and schools?

I agree with keeping church and state separate, but at the same time I can't stand the movement to make everything PC. It doesn't bother me that my national anthem asks God to keep my land glorious and free.

"Under God" was a late addition to the pledge. And a very bad one.

Next thing they will do is make all our money unconstitutional since it all has "In God We Trust" on it.

Interesting, I read your link. I didn't realize it was such a late addition. I agree it's a bad one. Years ago I wouldn't have given it much thought, but keeping church and state separate these days is becoming more difficult, it would seem.

OK, so you believe in selectively applying the rights of the Constitution.

I don't.

1st sentence - agreed

2nd sentence - disagree

And I'm glad you posted that link about the history of the pledge. For some reason I thought God was put in there in the 30's. Maybe I'm thinking of the "In God We Trust" on our money.

While on the surface I can see this as a Constitutional ruling, it also burns my ass that we are keeping our courts busy with such inane horseshit.

I find maintaining a separation of church and state anything but inane.

If it said, "under Allah", or "under Satan", would you feel any differently?

Thanks guys.

I just mentioned it because I find it humerous when people give you bad or good feedback. The comments are what makes it fun.

I was listening to talk radio this afternoon and John McCain was talking about this. He also said he's seriously considering running in the next election.
