Let's do our homework before making all these accusations lest we sink to the level of the garden variety liberla.
First of all, impeachment is the leveling of charges against the President. It is NOT a conviction.
Secondly, President Clinton was acquitted of both the perjury and obstruction of justice charges. Which is why he never had to leave office.
I didn't particularly care for the guy's character, but let's make sure we've got our facts straight. |

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. Actually he was disbarred and impeached.
But he made various deals to avoid conviction (like anyone would). |

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. I realize that. But several folks here are using the term impeached like it means "convicted".
And he was not convicted at all.
And he wasn't disbarred, per se, he was suspended. |

The Supreme Court disbarred him. (though admittedly it might have been fought and overturned) http://www.famguardian.org/Subjects/...bar-011001.htm
Clinton was so slimy, and so sued, it's easy to get confused. |

Again, this is incorrect. He was suspended and given 40 days to respond. He then resigned. http://edition.cnn.com/2001/LAW/10/01/scotus.clinton/ |

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. Oh yeah, looks like you're right. Suspended and then he quit. Kinda like being told you'll be hung in the morning, here's a pistol now.
Him and Nixon.
Lucky for Clinton the economy was good while he was in office.

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. Nah, he could have beat the suspension if he had wanted to, IMO. Just wasn't worth the trouble since he never argued a case before the SC, nor ever intended to. |

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. Perjury is serious ****, lawyers and judges don't like that, lawyer jokes aside.
But yeah, why mess with it, when you retire as Pres, you're not going to be arguing cases anymore...
His greatest acheivement was a balanced budget. I sure wish our conservative guys actually were conservative. |

| Re: And yet no mention of DeLay here. Perjury is indeed serious. But without an actual conviction from the Senate...........who knows.
And I agree completely. It would be nice to get a real live conservative back in office. While I don't really feel that the neo-cons have done any real damage, I think it's a bad direction for this party to move in. |

But yes, it would be nice if there were some actual conservatives in there that would cut the government in half as well as spending in at least half. |

Let's say I think it's a noble goal. Party lines aside. Even just making it a priority and cultivating that thinking in government would be refreshing. |
