Immigration Survey

I just got of the phone with some survey group. Topic - Immigration. The questions were a joke. All the solutions they offered had a taint of amnesty. I answered the questions honestly and at the end they ask how many times a week do you go to church? What race do you consider yourself to be? I always cringe when they ask me the personal questions. I rarely take the time to do these things and I've yet to feel good when I'm finished. Why is that?

They ask , "do you support stronger security at the borders, stricter violations on employers who hire illegals and an amnesty program (in other words but amnesty none the less) for all 11 million illegals in the country"? Well, yes yes and no. They added that part to all the questions.

Do you agree that the following would constitute a great dinner: A 16 oz. Porterhouse steak, baked potato, corn and a cup of runny dog diarrhea. Yeah, all except for the last one

Maybe I am a bastard but every time that a telemarketer/surveyor calls I tell them to hang on a minute and I'll get...(whoever) then I just leave them sit for as long as it take them to realize I am not coming back...

simple things keep me happy, poor buggers are just trying to do a job, but someone has to screw with them.

No amnesty for illegals. You got two weeks to get on the books and help supporting this great country or you should be set adrift to the mercy of the seas.

Should of informed that you support Austrailia's policy on deporting certain sects and would support the US doing the same.

I know this country was founded on immagrants and have no beef with those that come here legally, get registered, green card, get a job and pay taxes. It is the free loaders that come here for the "good" money, don't pay taxes, then when something happens, want the gov't to bail them out. And another thing, just cause you are born here doesn't make you a US citizen. Your 'rents aren't citizens? Well then niether are you.

Good money? Good money like lining up on the street waiting for work? Or like working as the farm workers that Ceasar Chavez didn't represent? Maybe the gov't may bail out the poor guy's lawn mower because it pooped out?

Everything is relative. They can stay in their home country and make 2-5 dollars a day or come up here and work in the fields making that an hr. Relatively speaking they can make in a day here what would take them a month or more in their home country. Most of this money is paid to them under the table, hence it is not taxed. As for bailing them out I mean by footing their medical bills cause they can't pay, insurance companies have to pay out cause they are insured or do a hit and run leaving some poor bastard to bleed in the streets. Be realistic. The cost of living in their home country is low enough that they might be able to get by on (2-5?) dollars a day. $2-5/hour in the San Francisco Bay Area doesn't mean jack squat. The cost of living here is outrageous. I make $15/hour and I'm barely getting by. My rent is $900 a month not including my roommate's share.

Unless I'm mistaken, you don't even qualify for gov't aid (ie food stamps, medical, etc...) if you aren't a citizen. I know resident aliens can't receive welfare and I'm pretty sure Illegal aliens can't.

Also, illegals are the hardest working people (60+ hrs/week). Regardless of tax evasion, they can't obtain jobs that pay a high enough wage to make ends meet. The work janitorial services subcontracted by Walmart, washing dishes in restaurants, gardening, construction, etc... These people work for under minimum garbage wages and they aren't even insured by their employers because aren't on the official payroll. If the dish washing illegal alien got scalded by boiling water or the floor-mopping illegal alien slips on a wet floor, they are assed out.

This is ridiculous. Of all the uninsured drivers on the road, you are claiming that illegal aliens are responsible? I know that quite a few uninsured drivers that are citizens or resident aliens. In fact, I know a few.

Illegal aliens have a hard enough time hiding from the authorities. They DON'T come out with these outrageous allegations to expose themselves. The Health Department or some do-gooder reporter usually exposes these conditions.

I was referring to the farm workers (illegals) that weren't part of Chavez's movement and continued working for garbage wages.

It may be difficult for you to relate to something that you have never experienced yourself. The resident aliens that are in their teens and younger usually don't require to much spanglish because they will pick up English rather quickly. The older resident aliens have a diminished learning capability (like for yourself to learn a second or a third language). Also, take into consideration that some were illiterate in their native countries. Just like operating a motorcycle, there is a learning curve. Nobody is asking you to be patient, just understand the circumstances.
