No guns or recruiters in San Francisco

Disgusting.

Quote:
Instead, Proposition I encourages city officials and university administrators to exclude recruiters and create scholarships and training programs that would reduce the military's appeal to young adults.
We sure wouldn't want serving in the military to appeal to anyone.

It sounds like there are still me many hippies living in San Fran. I have always thought that a military career is a highly respected profession.

I guess they'll never need the national guard to respond to any emergencies or disasters.

Re: No guns or recruiters in San Francisco

Although law enforcement, security guards and others who require weapons for work are exempt from the measure, current handgun owners would have to surrender their firearms by April.

Doesn't this violate an Constitution somewhere??????

Measure H prohibits the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ammunition in the city, and make it illegal for residents to keep handguns in their homes or businesses

Cool, next time I want to roll a string of convience stores and gas stations I know where to go. Nice ya bunch of pany asses..... Guess the citizens just gave up their right to protect their property.

The military recruitment initiative also won with 60 percent in favor and 40 percent against.

Measure I, dubbed "College Not Combat," opposes the presence of military recruiters at public high schools and colleges. However, it would not ban the armed forces from seeking enlistees at city campuses, since that would put schools at risk of losing federal funding.

This will change for sure. If I was the gov't I would pull ALL of my ROTC funding from this place.

Ahhh America, this smells of prohibition. Dumbasses giving up their rights, jackassess. Our founding fathers just puked in their graves.

Great, now they can stab and club each other to death. Get rid of your knives, bats, hammers and crowbars. Home Depot will be asking for ID next time you want to buy a 2x4, from the sound of things.

Re: No guns or recruiters in San Francisco

From now on rather than just calling them names and looking at them funny, I will ban all San Fran residents from my business and properties.
I will also not visit the shithole or allow one dime of my money to go toward any person or business in or associated with the place.

And left wing liberal democrats can't understand why people call them traitors to their own country. SF has got to me the most left wing city in the country. I live in CA and i havent been there in about 10 years.

Re: No guns or recruiters in San Francisco

Unprincipled cowards. If guns are so evil have all people give them up including security and police. Also if your ideals are so important forego federal $$ ooops add whores to the first list.

The military is not only necessary to defend our freedom (and has on more than one occasion) it helps in emergencies (wonder what these 's would think if there was an earthquake) and provides and excellant, honest and honorable way to advance a persons life, unlike dope smoking homeless pukes whom they seem to prefer.

That's just funny!

I don't think it would hurt recruitment much, honestly, I don't remember ever meeting a soldier from San Fransisco.

Although rare I bet a soldier from SF would be a super top notch person. To come out of that den of inequity and still have the morals to join the military would take an exceptional person (who will still achieve it despite the efforts of the little people on the SF board)

Oh, yeah, don't get me wrong, I didn't/ don't discriminate on where a soldier comes from. I've seen some outstanding soldiers from unlikely places. In 8 years, I hadn't met one from SF, and most of the people serving in California who are from California tend to clique up.

"Den of inequity"

Man, people sure do have some interesting ideas about places they don't live.

Stupid legislation. A crime. I agree, next time they need the national guard, don't send them. Let the politicians that wrote this bill "deal" with the problem. I bet it would be dealt with by meeting...like Chirac.

set the hook

However the core of the city and it's government I have heard that the rest of the city is normal and nice. I actually had a great aunt that lived there and went there when the hippies were out ('68). I asked dad why the people were lying on the side of the road, he replied they were hitchhiking. My response was if they were to lazy to stand up I wouldn't give them a ride, thought he was going to go off the road choking on that one

Have you ever been to Berkeley?

SF is a great city. Surely I will go there again.

I suppose since guns have been banned since 1976 we shouldn't goto Washington DC?
