| Re: The Government of Canada collapses and nobody has anything funny to say about it? It's been a long time coming... The Liberals have been shitting all over the west for 13 years now. Good riddance. |

| Re: The Government of Canada collapses and nobody has anything funny to say about it? Conservatives won a minority. Now the trick is to keep Ontario happy and come back with a crushing majority in the next election. I expect their behaviour will be quite moderate / centrist... but I also expect that they will make good on their campaign promises; they have to.
THe Liberals will elect a new leader, possibly Michael Ignatieff (google him, very interesting fellow) and spend the next 2-3 years rebuilding.
This has the potential to start a new era in politics here; Harper has a chance to prove himself and I'm counting on him to do just that.
Layton nearly doubled his seat count... he's still an asshole. |

Hope Manley takes the liberal helm.
everyone that i know was voting concervative. I think ontario ( toronto actually) votes liberal because of all the FOB's and immigrants. they're used to more of a socialist government like their old countries. |

| Re: The Government of Canada collapses and nobody has anything funny to say about it? The biggest surprise for me was BC, where Cons lost 5 seats and the NDP made gains... Did people in BC already forget how bad the NDP screwed them? At least Svend Robinson didn't win.
Also, the fact that Belinda Stronach held her seat has me more than a little bit ashamed to be human. WTF? |

| Re: The Government of Canada collapses and nobody has anything funny to say about it? Seems as though nobody wants to run for leadership of the Liberal party. All the "heavyweights" have publicly stated that they will not run:
Tobin
Manley
McKenna
I guess they don't want to inherit a dead party. They all expect that the party will instantly bounce back to a huge majority (you know, once people see Harper's evil hidden agenda) but none of them want to run it. Of course Goodale has to be out, he's tainted by the income trust scandal, and Ignatieff is too new.
So here come the loose cannons with leadership bids... Brison and Stronach have expressed their interest. Good gawd... In a way I hope one of them wins, it will keep the Conservatives in power for a long time. |
