And yes they are watching private messaging system. Didn't you read the article? They are particularly interested in private/public messaging and actually have a system in place to gather info about it.
I just wonder if the gov't also has access to everybodies credit information. That would be a gold mine for the government.
Does anyone here see a problem with the U.S. government using tax dollars to gather all available information on all its citizens (in other words "spy"). Sounds like another government that we used to worry about not too long ago. I remember something about a cold war with that government. |

| Re: They watch what you do on the internet But what's worse? Indoctrinating children with what the government wants to control, or the government knowing where you bought that last pair of edible panties?
For the record I don't like either, but think gubmint knowledge control is one of the worst things possible. |

| Re: They watch what you do on the internet A little update on this. I sent the URL to my fiance's work address. She calls me and says that the email was blocked because of its content. I just sent her the URL, nothing else. So that means her employer's firewall system actually opened the URL, scanned it for its content, and then made the decision that it wouldn't be allowed through. Now WTF is that!?

We are almost to 1984. | Ironic maybe, but I agree with a business' right to sensor what is transmitted over their privately owned network. |

"We have an attitude that no one will connect all those dots. But these programs are about connecting those dots - analyzing and aggregating them - in a way that we haven't thought about. It's one of the underlying fundamental issues we have yet to come to grips with."

You are aware that there exist "private schools," which have no externally-imposed government curricular requirements, are you not? There goes the monopoly-thing...And, that these schools are regulated only in the sense that a very low-level skills test must be passed if the school is to be accredited and granted preferential tax status (the minimum standard can easily be exceeded)? |
