Black Box Voting review of Palm Beach County Voting Machines

Damn... this is bad. Basically BBV sued to get the audit logs of all the voting machines (developed by Sequioa Voting Systems) revealing significant errors in accuracy.

Things like votes being recorded on a machine months before the election, and then being tallied into the real count (and these were not early voting machines, either)... votes being cast at 1 AM and other strange times when the polls were closed... error logs rampant with software error codes, the list goes on.

To make it worse, the systems do not have a paper trail. I have ALWAYS thought these things were a bad idea... Scantrons really are the way to go, IMO. The ones we use in San Diego are pretty much idiot-proof, and there is a physical piece of paper that has a tear-off receipt you get to keep.

Check it out here... http://www.bbvforums.org/cgi-bin/for...954/19421.html

Nope, I appreciate the fact that if you can't work a marker to fill in a bubble RIGHT NEXT to the name you want (with an arrow for good measure) then you have no business voting for the leaders of our government.

Same thing for those that can't puch a hole in a perforated piece of paper in where there are giant arrows pointing to the proper hole for your candidate.

Yeah, the only problem I have with the punch holes is the "hanging chad" problem that was so evident after the 2000 elections... with each handling the cards deteriorate, whereas the thick scantron forms we have here are not going to magically create new dots next to names.

Didn't they use electronic voting machines (Diebold I believe) in Ohio for the
2004 elections? Wonder why no one has brought a suit against them to get the results rechecked.

Because we learned in 2000 once an election is certified, it is the best thing for the country to all get behind the winner and accept him as the Pres. Then go badger him in Congress if you feel the need.

Whether he (and who knows, maybe soon, "she") was your horse or not.
