| Pay a credit card off... get investigated by Homeland Security Here is an article from the Providence (R.I.) Journal. Basically put, changes in the Bank Privacy Act now mean that DHS has to be notified if you make a larger payment on your credit card than you usually do. You would think that terrorists could care less about credit cards. Don't they usually deal in cash only transactions? There has been monitoring in place for large cash purchases for a long time. But this was used to try and catch bank thieves. How paying off a credit card is associated with terrorism is just bizarre. Maybe the 911 hi-jackers paid off their credit cards before they took their final flights. To me this smacks more of collusion between the credit card companies and DHS. I would venture to guess that everybodys' credit history and information is frequently culled by DHS, FBI, NSA, CIA, etc. Gotta love the patriot act. Dropping those barriers between freedom and oppression. |
