You clearly do not know the first thing about agriculture....

Spent plenty of time in ERs too..unfortunately. Still not really seeing your point.

We'll be taking care of these people whether they're legal or not.

I'd like to see the data comparing the costs of people on disability because they're alcoholics or drug addicts, and their trips to the ER, who we also pay to stay home and be **** ups, vs illegals who are here to work but also go to the hospital.

If you have taken a lot of **** from Bush lovers here then think of this.

Are you sure others have not thought it through with different base principals? I find it amusing that both sides tend to say the other is just stupid. I am VERY conservative but enjoy discussing things with liberal friends that do not result to name calling. It is interesting to hear the reasons they got to the conclusions they do. Now all of us have some knee jerk aliances but most folks have reasons for most votes, consider that and listen to the other side. You may not agree or be swayed but you may come to understand your own ideas better.

I am sure that some have...but when I talk to people that have one opinion or another (whether they agree or disagree with me) I ask then why do they feel the way they do and at times the reasoning is based on something other than truth or fact. "Wow...I feel like I can have a fireside chat with that presidential candidate...hmm...wait a minute...that must mean he will make a good president...he has my vote!"

How many people here have worked a field or orchard? I'd like to know because you all seem to have opinions about it whether it be one side or the other.

I'll raise my other hand for Navydevildoc, he worked on the same ones.

Our grandparents had an olive orchard. We used to work around it in summers, and it was a privelage. When my family moved up to NorCal, I picked the olives the "illegal aliens" left behind at the tops of the trees to earn money for dirtbike stuff.

Well, there you have it. My father was a migrant worker...A LEGAL ONE! I wasn't because I'm a citizen. But I worked the fields and orchards. And son of a gun...so did LTL. That's proof that if there were job openings in the fields, there are plenty of Legal people willing to do the job for the same peanuts that the illegals get. Even friggin' whities!
to reality.

And if not the people should pay more. The support from some of the upper class and businesses is because they don't want to loose thier slaves. Yes an american will refuse to work for sub minimum wage 12 hours a day and live 10 people to a one bedroom apartment, imagine that.

One more thing I'd like to add. My Father came to this country without knowing English, so imediately went to an ESL course offered by the state. He also learned Mexican from other workers he was with (yes, Mexican. Spanish is a bit different). So in a matter of a few months, he added two languages. Along with German and French, that made 5 languages including his native Croation language. He never considered it an insult to learn and use English. Never!

I worked in the tobacco fields of SC and there were no migrants, illegals, Mexicans or whatever term you want to use....

I wouldn't give a hoot what a comedian has to say about this. That's another problem with the US. People confuse fame with intelligence.
