Why is it illegal to hire an American below minimum wage but it's okay to pay migrant workers below minimum wage?
I have no problem with a guest worker program as long as it's well thought out, which the President's isn't. It's a knee jerk reaction to plug a hole.
I agree that there are jobs that Americans don't want to do. My plan is to have all those people collecting welfare do them. If you're going to get my tax money, you should be busting your ass. Your time card determines how much welfare you get on top of the pay you get from your employer. You work 40 hours a week, welfare covers whatever is left to bring your pay to a set minimum. Whatever jobs are left over can be filled by the guest worker program.
While here on a guest worker permit, your employer is responsible for normal tax, withholding, and health insurance they offer all of their employees. Again, my tax money should not be going to cover your expenses while American citizens aren't covered. You also are not able to get citizenship until you properly apply for, and receive, an actual visa. You are deported upon your first felony or second misdemeanor. Don't like it, get the f*** out.
There should be a minimum wage (for citizens) and a guest worker minimum wage. Don't like it, get the f*** out.
There should be a flat tax on guest worker wages, say 2%. No tax return, no filing a grievance. 2% right off the top, doesn't even go to you to be paid later. You're a guest and you should contribute to the future of this country not just whatever you send home for your family. If I had a roommate, we'd split the bills, as a guest worker you're basically a roommate. Pay your share to keep this country running. Don't like it, get the f*** out.
Representation is for citizens only. Stage a protest, form a guest worker union, or any other BS, deported.
English is our language. Learn some before you come. There should be a test to make sure they are on some functional level, then give guest worker status. Learn it, love it, live it. Don't like it, get the f*** out.
There's more, but I'm tired of typing. |

Only lame opinions from kalifornistan and white apologists matter. | Oklahoma is temporary. I'll be back in highbrow Kentucky in July.
I once drove past a farm and picked up an apple that was laying on the ground. That should count. |

| Re: What, nothing praising the President's immigration speech If we want to stop the influx of illegal immigrants we have to start creating the conditions for that to happen . As long as risking their lives crossing the border is more appealing to them than staying put with no manageable future, they’re gonna keep coming not matter how tall the fence. Now, if other countries (Mexico and others) developed stable economies and the demand for cheap labor in the USA stops, then why would they come here to find low paying jobs or none at all when they can stay home and do better? But who wants to pay 3000.00US$ for a cheap computer, 5.00US$ for a gallon of gas, 60.00US$ to have your lawn mowed every week, 400.00US$/week in groceries, etc? As long as I benefit from it, let them come . Make them pay taxes and Social Security . Absorb them into society and make them pay as we all do. They might be the solution to the Social Security problem. . I'm not affraid. |

| Re: What, nothing praising the President's immigration speech deezie-poo...as much as we'd like to keep on with your Lifetime Channel mini-drama, the supply of kleenex has run out, and we need to get this thread back on track...
[re-jack]
For an example of not so subtle redneck irony, check out this pic that made the front page of the local paper here. The story was covering a protest of about 25 O's and Q's that showed up at the courthouse to express their thoughts on Bushie's plan...

| Re: What, nothing praising the President's immigration speech So criminal activity and exploitation is fine as long as YOU benefit? By the way none of what you said would happen. Also you are paying a LOT of the savings back in hidden costs like social programs, extra schools, unpaid hospital bills, car insurance (when they cause a crash here they run). Not to mention the support provided to the hard criminals by providing them a stream of capital and mules to smuggle.
AND MOSTLY it is wrong to use others as slaves to provide yourself a cushy living (thankfully the treatment isn't as bad but the attitude is)

| Re: What, nothing praising the President's immigration speech Oh man, so sorry. I've never heard such eloquent reasoning before. There was such a strong reasoning in your post you changed my view . You are right. All non-American citizens are making me pay extra costs . From now on I'm defending the motherland and my ideology over all those other meaningless values . No more legal and/or illegal immigrants. They’re all the same. What was I thinking? I apologize. I was just being egotistical and thinking of my own pocket . I thought we were all the same no matter where we were born. What a concept uh? Freedom, Equality, Human rights… Oh, wait . For a minute you had brain washed me. No I still think that ALL HUMANS, NO MATTER WHERE THEY WERE BORN, HAVE A RIGHT TO SEEK HAPPINES. |
