Whaaaa??? Mikey never does that. All his mockumentaries are full of complete and total fact and have not done any clipping and editing of interviews, speeches or anything else.
His knowledge and ideas are perfect.

Pffffft. That's such crap. The mass media does that EVERY day, and nobody sues them. Emotional distress caused my Michael Moore? Ha. Everyone's intitled to their own opinion, don't take it so personally.

I think if I lost both my arms and someone used the fact and video in a way that I thought both false and contrary to my position I might go after them also. Seems like this would be a very personal issue to the gentleman.

so if I took something that you said.... twisted it out of context... and used it to make money on something that you don't believe in, that would be okay????

I'm not saying it's okay, I'm saying I wouldn't sue you for $85 million. It sucks that he's been misrepresented in the media (if you want to call Moore the media), but I just complain about our sue happy culture.

I don't know. It's hard to put one's self in his situation, but I would think that he would want the public to know what really happend. Sorry, I'm not trying to step on anyones toes here (and I know it's kinda a touchy subject), and I'm not defending Moore, I really wish he'd give some realy information some time.

I'd have to agree that we have a sue happy culture and ppl need to stop sueing for BS reasons... but I think this guy is in the right... Michael made alot of money off of that movie, and he twisted the truth to make that movie... Let the guy take Moore to the cleaners!!!

I still think he's over reacting a bit, but I wish him the best of luck. And I don't see suing Moore for $85 million as trying to let the public know what really happend.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that wasn't purposefully taken out of context was it? Not saying it was right, but different situation...

So Michael Moore and others can continue to make profit by misrepresenting what people have said? If you say something about someone that's not true, and it hurts that person's rep, isn't that slander?

The problem about "slander" is that it has to be intentional. Everyone involved with the film is just going to point a finger at someone else, and no one is going to take blame for it. But, yes it is slander. It's just a pain to prove it. That's the problem with the media, they'll slander someone, claim they didn't know it was slander, and print a retraction, after the damage has been done.

Tough one. I hope he has his day in court to get his views out, but i don't think he should get any money. I am very anti litigation. I've been on a jury and was the 12th angry man. couldn't believe what the rest of the people were saying in the jury the whole time. My brain was having terrible cramps listening to them. And hey i'm a leftist liberal greene (well not that green).

get his views out why should he not get money if Mr Moore did in fact inflict harm for profit? If he was found to be in the wrong should Mr Moore be allowed to keep his ill gotten gains?

I also am very anti-litigation but this case seems reasonable to at least get a day in court. Also unlike the moron that burned themself with coffee the chance of REAL mental anguish for this fellow is there.

This is a legit lawsuit... Moore is still making money off of those movies, they are still selling in stores, still being rented @ blockbuster... This is a different situation than a newspaper and printing a retraction!

Sure let the guy sue. I saw the movie, I don't remember the part they are talking about though. Seems to me the guy is sueing because Bush really has left this guy behind. He probably can't cover his medical expenses since coming back from Iraq and needs the cash to live. I am sure he and his lawyers are hoping Moore will settle out of court.

Damn right, With all opinion of the war aside. Reporters/Documentorians should not show only parts of interview. IHO Moore deserves to loose a bit of cash form this. Maybe then he might be more careful.

Oh yeah, it's certainly Bush's fault. Was your last hangover his fault too?

A wee little bit of objectivity goes a long way man...

Re: Michael Moore sued

Ok, heres how I see it. The guy has been seriously debilitated fighting for Mr. Moore's rights. (Some might argue this, take it or leave it...) He will never lead a completly normal life again. He has given this up for the military, and for all I can see, is still holding strong to his patriotism. Moore publishes a movie that shows him, without his permission. The guy could probably USE the money, but he doesn't need it. He probably wouldn't even sue for so much if a person didn't HAVE to in order to make the news, and as others have said, let people know what really happened. Like I said- the money will be used, but not completly necessary.

Re: Michael Moore sued

Lest you all forget, with few exceptions (like arguing with your neighbor about a fenceline or something), the only reason for a civil suit is money.

It is the only way to reward, and only way to punish.

Suing for money is also the only way a case like this will happen, as I doubt our disabled hero has the cash to hire the type of representation it will take to take on Slimey Moore.
