Canadian terrorism plot foiled

You mean pussy socialist countries aren't immune to terrorism? I thought all the Liberal rhetoric meant we weren't under threat?

17 terror suspects were arrested in Ontario this weekend... Links to Al Qaida, but total home-grown effort. They had plans to attack several high-profile national targets and were caught with over 3 tonnes of ammonium nitrate.

I heard they caught them because the sheer number of moose it was going to take to haul the stuff made it hard for them to hide.

I haven't followed the stories, but kudos to the RCMP and all else involved. My respect for them went up several notches.

Ya... surprised and impressed that the intelligence service and RCMP were able to catch them...

Now the problem: How heavily can you punish someone for something they were "intending" to do? I don't know how much power the courts will have but I would like to see all these assholes jailed long-term or deported.

However, a Liberal MP and former parliamentary secretary to the previous Liberal public safety minister, suggested it would be naive to think the threat of terrorism on Canadian soil has been eradicated.

I think Canadian liberals may have a higher IQ than the American liberals. Must be the climate.

Hauling the 3 tons of explosives out to the middle of nowhere and blowing it up with these goons sitting on top of the pile doesn't seem too harsh to me
